Shifting Shards

Written by Dethdlr on . Posted in Grouping, Itemization, Raiding

Been saving up your T8 shards for armor?  Soon you’ll need less than you do today.  Frizznik writes on the EQ2 Forums:
  • Tier 1 will cost the same amount of shards as it did before (38 shards crafter-made, 44 shards vendor-bought)
  • Tier 2 will cost the same amount of shards as it did before (112 shards crafter-made, 126 shards vendor-bought).  It will also cost around 5 platinum.  It will no longer require the tier 1 armor piece.
  • Tier 3 will cost the raid dropped mold, the same void shards it did before, and around 9 platinum.  You will no longer have to trade the mold in for a pattern.  You will no longer need the tier 2 piece to buy the tier 3 piece.  If you have traded a mold for a pattern, that vendor will let you trade the pattern back in for the mold.

This will be a good change for those who don’t raid. All of WoE can be 1 group pugged now (save for Aiden, and this was before i got into a hardcore raiding guild) with relative ease, so it should give that raid a new breath of life. I still wear my T3 legs because the RNG hates me and wont drop me new ones 🙁

I am not sure about the change to T2 being really all that beneficial. If you have shards to spend it is, saving you 38, but T2 stuff isn’t exactly required to progress in odus. but less shards spent and simplifying the process to obtain it is always good.

now lower the cost of the mount so i can finally get it, lol.

Agreed this is a very nice change. We ran WOE the other night for transmuting. The molds that droped are very nice for alts we had but we let them rot getthing the old requierment for shards was pointless in the new expac. This change will help new plyers and alts progess much smother without having to run pointless void zones a 100 times.
