    1. ^^^ This

They are still in and will continue to be in “wringing the dish rag until it runs dry mode” until the lights are turned off. Common sense, meaningful quality and quantity be damned. The trajectory of this games is like watching a train wreck in slow motion….its painful to behold, but you can’t look away.

      1. Yes. Both items are on the bug tracker for over a year now. Also exchanged emails with Holly about it. Also tweeted about it. Done it all I think, but progress doesn’t seem to be happening.

  1. It’s a poll. Someone probably said ‘Let’s see what the players think about this idea before we delegate any resources to it.’

I see it as asking players for their input. You see it as wasting resources by asking questions.

    Tomato/Tomahto.

    1. 0.0 Betony! Rational minds and common sense are illegal these days, don’t you know? Complain and be useless like the rest or you’ll stand out like a sore thumb!
(Jk =P Nice to see some one who thinks, rather than spends all brain resources to find some way to complain about every damn thing like most people! ^_^)

  2. I quit playing EQ2 a few months ago, after returning once again for the latest expac, and I quit before getting very far into it. Why? Because EQ2 is just done. It is a shadow of what it used to be, It has no where to go. I can see DBG just milking the cow until it’s dead.

    1. Agree, I’m a huge EQ fan played since late 99, I remember waiting at Babbages on release day to buy EQ2, I played off and on for 10 years but i think i am officially done with it since the announcement of the Rum Cellar, (RC didn’t kill it for me that is just when i stopped) Game is literally on life support it seems and has been passed up by bigger and better things. Ill probably be playing BDO until Pantheon is released but my days of EQ2 are most likely over. I guess the only reason i still come to EQ2Wire is habit and to see any breaking news if they ever decide to shut it down.

  3. The double spelling error in the first question hardly inspires confidence in a considered and intelligent proposal, does it?

I’m all in favor of new ruleset servers in principle but neither of these has much appeal.

  4. Far too many business surveys are ‘we know the answer, here’s the question’; the survey results justify the business response.

In this case, DBG knows the answer is ‘create a Prestige Server’. Because one obvious choice is missing, “None of the Above”, No One will ever know if the subscribers surveyed really want a Prestige Server.

    “Incomplete Options

When questions are asked on a scale (like from “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree”), respondents can get frustrated if there’s not a Neutral option. Neutral options are usually handled two ways: giving respondents a “Neither Agree nor Disagree” option in the middle of the scale and giving them a “N/A” option at the end of it, in case the question does not apply.”

The badly spelled “No-Hierlom” sounds like a DBcash broker experiment. If this is such a good idea, implement this on the live servers. Much less coding** involved.

** Yes less code. The difference between removing heirloom, versus code to setup a Prestige Server. Which includes code removing heirloom.

The “Race to Trakanon” will be short, if the boasts of players claiming to be able to power level to 90 in “two hours” are even remotely true.

Realistically, however, on a level 80 handicapped Prestige Server, I’ll place bets on Trakanon being dead in three weeks. With the usual ‘how to kill Trakanon in three weeks’ guides posted afterwards. Expect time to death to shrink with each season.

So the point of creating a “Race to Trakanon” SERVER, is what exactly?

Soooo what about answering the unauthorized unsanctioned EQ2Wire poll?

    Which would interest you more?
    A) Prestige Server 1 – All Heirloom items can be traded freely between players.
    B) Prestige Server 2 – Race to Trakanon: A periodic server race to Kunark end game to earn exclusive rewards redeemable on live servers for all participants.
    C) Both A and B: I want to have access to both, though I know they will be separate servers.
    D) Both A and B: I want to have access to both, which will reside on the same server.
    E) None of the above.

    … E …

  5. I’m only interested if they are converting my server to not have heirloom anymore. I’m not starting a new character on a new server just to have SLR be not an exploit.

  6. I wish they would just take the last little bit of cash they have on hand to package a $500.00 version of the game you can install on your PC that allows you to run your own server. Once done, let the game pan out till all their servers are ghost towns and use their time elsewhere.

    1. There are emulated servers out there, IIRC.
I have to agree though… I wouldn’t mind an “offline” version… the people left (or at least the vocal ones) are perverted pissing contest elitists trolls and all the decent people turned off world wide chat or just ignore it (or left the game because of them). :\
I would miss seeing other people’s decorating and the guides though. :\

I really had my hopes up when Drunder became a thing, but I guess these days, if you banish every asshole there is, you won’t have much of a population left. /sad sigh

  7. how about they fix and rebalance all this old worthless loot they have thats now outshadowed by the newest stuff and dungeon finder? or how about they fix these bugs like rezoning back into the last dungeon finder dungeon if you did multiple runs bug or fix SoL angostic which still has ridiculously overpowered hp and damage mobs

  8. If they did a single packaged all in one offline thing I would throw my money at it easily. Only feature I would want is able to hire more than one merc and edit the dungeons/raids to make them harder/easier/shorter/longer for a single person and allow us to uncap AAs.

  9. I’m with anaogi, I’d love property cross server grouping. It’s a shame they abandoned this plan in favor of server merges. Also, your suggested guild name is awesome 🙂

    1. Cross server grouping or open cross-server travel would have been a much more positive change for the game altogether.
For example, all the trolls would hang out on the most populated area for maximum attention, and those of us sick to death of their BS could seek out the most deserted servers (and the random troll looking for lurkers to torment came there, we could head to another server’s instance). 😀

  10. I don’t know if Daybreak Games would ever release a version of EQ/EQ2 that would allow your PC to be it’s own server but it is an interesting idea to keep both the games going. The folks at Daybreak are trying to keep the players interested and kudos to them for the effort.

    1. Too true. Phantasy Star did online/offline play and it was too easy for people to hack the game with the offline mode available to mess with. (And admittedly, I accepted a hacked frying pan when I played there. XD I LOVED the oversized frying pan weapon!)
