EQ2 has always had a series of “flavor” items. These are loot drops which serve no purpose other than a bit of interest (a colorful description), and a fixed price at which they can be sold to a vendor. It has not always been easy to pick out these items, although in recent years most have been flagged with a statement such as “You might be able to find a merchant who would give you a few coins for this.” So it would seem the groundwork has partly been laid for a “Sell All Junk” button. Well, it looks like it may finally come. From Rothgar on the EQ2 Forums:
I’ve done the code work to allow flagging of trash items which will have 2 benefits. First, you won’t be allowed to put them on the broker. Second, a “Sell all Junk” button would sell it all at once. All that’s left to implement this feature is to actually flag all trash items in the game which may take some time.
Not everyone’s cheering though. A few players have “played the market” and sold these vendor-only items on the Broker for a profit to unsuspecting players. This change will end the practice.
Took them long enough to take that idea from WoW. Sheesh. I’ve been asking them for this feature for going on like 5 years now lol.
@Dharvane. this idea has been done in MMO’s since before they even had a 3d GUI. Everything NOT already in EQ2 that’s later implemented is not necessarily from WoW just because so many players here now are.
It stands to reason that a larger population of WoW-class payers will make simplifying EQ2 enough to keep them more urgent. Don’t confuse replication for innovation. Most Mmo’s today borrow from games few current players have heard of.
This feat is useful but not necessary. They should try to give us better Guild tools such as a simple send message, invite to group and raid invite from the guild panel (without having to install an custom UI) and they should work on a sort all inventory / Bank items ! This would be really USEFUL 🙂
Serious? (or is that sarcasm?) … prefer to see them spend more resource so people don’t have to type: /invite a couple of times a night? *boggle*
As for sorting bags…it’d be neat, but I’d argue not very useful, really. I think their plans to put all quest items into their own tab would do more for cleaning up bags.
I suppose I’d prefer the devs focus on:
* fixing shader 3.0,
* offloading more to the graphics card from the cpu,
* improving multi-threading,
* fixing gear> aligning gear to difficulty to obtain
… anyway, that’s for another thread. 😉
Sell all Status item would be nice too (for Vendor amenities in GH )
I suggested a few things to Rothgar a few months back, and I hope he listens to me.
1. Quest item window. Get all of those useless quest items out of my bags, and make it way easier to find them if you need them.
2. Raid/group item window. All the things you need for zones that you dont want cluttering bags.
3. Auto bank/vendor bags. The ability to put everything in your bags on your broker/bank.
I don’t know why you even need flavor items. It would help the economy if everything was useful for crafting or something else. I guess people want a prize rather than just cash … seems like a waste.
Some of the stuff is cool for RP. Frankly, the ‘statue of Veeshan’ is something I wish I could actually display! The variant ‘flowers’ have uses too…but that’s a tale for another time, I’m afraid. 😉
Ok, now to drop my log in the bowl.
Instead of having “vender trash” pre-marked as “vender trash” . I would love it if we could select multiple items in the vendor window, like when you clean out your e-mail, then the sell all button. Along that same line, select multiple items in your broker window, then set the same price for all of them.
I know dare to dream.
Back when people used text chat as a primary means of communication I had fun creatively linking items in chat. Some of those trash items were particularly useful. It’s been forever, but I’m pretty sure there was a slightly used handkerchief I was using back then. 😉
Why not just get rid of these flavor items and just place the plat equivalent on the creature?
Because they are fun. I’ve played games where the only drop is coin and it’s very dull.
Some of the icons are beautiful and the imagination and creativity that has gone into them is outstanding. Rather than block them from the broker it would be better if the better ones could be converted into house items.
Working on this crap while troubs continue to get nothing or when he “has time”
so does this mean no more buying/selling items to make power roots, tell me it aint so
remove trash and put it where it belongs
