The Triumphant Return of the Duck Mount Request Thread!
There is a lot of fear, uncertainty, and doubt swirling around Daybreak Games and EverQuest II in particular today, for obvious reasons. We’re working on a more detailed reaction to today’s news which will be posted tomorrow morning. However EQ2 senior animator Tom Tobey took a moment today to do what he does best (other than animations of course!) and injected some humor into the day with this tweet:

Why does Norrath need duck mounts?
Ducks are majestic creatures, they look awesome, and they have all sorts of variety.
How would a duck mount work?
- Well the ground animation would be similar to that of the terrorbirds already in place, and as such wouldn’t require a total redesign.
- The wings would work very similar to the pegasus like mounts, in the fact that they flap, and as such wouldn’t require a total redesign.
- There are many colours of ducks available, like the standard plain white, all the way up to the truly magnificent Mongolian duck.

But why would I want a duck mount?
Why wouldnt you! They can be cute and fluffy, or they can be ferocious beasts! (Never seen an angry duck?). They’d look awesome just chilling round your guild hall, or battling Kerafyrm.

What does SoE gain?
Well firstly the warm fuzzy feeling inside that you made me happy. That’s got to be worth something right?
Other than that, it would be a hit on the marketplace! Lots of the amazing mounts in past haven’t been fliers, so we can’t use them day to day. But with this, it would be!

Lollipop weapons have been available in Frostfell for years. The standard color of bard armor in The Shadow Odyssey was hot pink.

We had a certain templer who used to raid, he quit to go to rift. He wore that silly pink armor in the appearance slot all the way though velious and up till he was 95. He had a thing for that pink armor. It use to be the running joke that KJ had is pink armor.

I hate the idea of duck mounts and such rubbish. However, if it encourages people to spend good cash which in turn keeps the hamsters going, I am all for it. While we are at it, lets have a moose, buffalo, beaver and as there are so many in the game already, a ratonga mount!

if folks want a duck mount let them have it, lol. If they want to spend sc on it and help keep the game going then so be it. However I got to to just scratch my head, but it can’t be any worse than the Squirrel glider mount. I prefer my nightmare wings we got for free. At least the animation looks cool and is easy to control while flying.

I would love a larger variety of mounts, duck, elk, flying pig. whatever…More variety is better…doesn’t mean you have to buy it. I for one am bored with pegasus, some form of bat/dragon/tinkered/feathered wings, or fat dragons that are overly large…I would love a warg with wings or something.
