Upcoming Webcast: The Future of EverQuest II — May 24th

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Expansion News, Game Updates & Maintenance

In the waning days of May, while we anxiously await the delivery of those May Update Plans, there’s word of an upcoming Webcast tomorrow afternoon/evening with the lofty title “the Future of EverQuest II“.

I think we can expect some hints of the upcoming Qeynos Revamp in August, with maybe a screenshot or two, followed by some hints of the November (or December) expansion and/or Game Update. The EQ2 team have played their cards awfully close to the chest since Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson‘s installation as EQ2 Senior Producer and subsequent elevation to EverQuest Franchise Executive Producer, and more recently SOE Director of Development.

Details of the May 24th webcast after the jump…

From the EQ2 Forums:

The EverQuest II team is excited to share details about the future! Host Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson (Director of Development) will sit down with Holly “Windstalker” Longdale (Producer) to talk about what’s coming for EverQuest II.  If you are an EQII fan and you want to know what’s coming next, this is a must see Webcast! We’d love to answer your questions, we are gathering them in this thread!

Join us on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 4:30 p.m. US Pacific Time on Twitch TV! The webcast is expected to last about 20 minutes.

Be there to hear about EverQuest II’s exciting future!

I still don’t understand their choice to come up with updates such as Qeynos and Freeport revamp since these 2 cities are no more starting cities.

With such a catastrophic year of content addition, I would have focused on real content additions instead of unneeded things. And a revamp of Qeynos and Freeport was CLEARLY unneeded for now.

Alos, I would have kept them to get released TOGETHER (and doing so would have prevented unbalanced content for Qeynos vs Freeport citizens as it is now) with a new extension pack, offering new starting areas.
In this cas, revamping Qeynos and Freeport beeing a solution to give them interest again as more new starting cities would have come.

I really don’t understand the direction the game as been given and the priority for the content update development.

New lands are seriously missing, places to explore and not only devastated lands. Withered Lands lore is nice, but once again, it’s a corrupted and twisted place (rather small) and you know, people naturally tend to prefer nice green and blue vibrant colors rather than dark ones (except for some special places).

It’s time to bring us something fresh and new dear Dave and Holly … Because you’re loosing us and I’m sure you exactly know what I’m talking about.

If they didn’t exhibit the highest level of incompetence at every turn instead of these freeport and qeynos revamps they would have revamped Outpost of the overlord and Queens Colony and brought them back.

Dave and Holly have no interest in the players you are speaking of here they want to replace them with players that ooh and aaah with every new SC item they toss out.

I was on board with the idea of revamping Qeynos and Freeport to:

    • bring back the islands (maybe as a training ground you are sent to when your character turns age 17, since the whole ‘washing up on a beach’ or ‘being fished out of the ocean after the rapture cataclysm shattering’ doesn’t really make sense with how much time has passed, and the growing populations of the cities)
    • add fresh level 1-20 content
    • add one or two new HQs/Sig quests from 80-90 which further the overall story along
    • provide useful or unique rewards that aren’t consigned to the transmuters 6 months later when the next GU comes out

What we got was a handful of level 20-70 quests, an area of the game people already fly through as fast as they can. And while the quest dialogue was above-average, the quest tasks were literally kill 10 rats and collect 6 boxes for the most part.

The gulf between promise and implementation is frustrating. It’s why I question my sanity at dropping $$ on Fan Faire. Everything we hear will change 180° between announcement and implementation.

For old timers like myself MORE content…. More RAID zones, revamp the DRUNDER HM gear to be in line with new easy ( instant like raid zones in SS) crazy that new gear makes it not worth going to drunder hm…. yet not much else to raid once u cleared the SS Zones in a raid day… leaving only POW… to hit. So many old timers are growing bored fast and leaving the game… best wake up soe the money is here too… not just in SC. Although I bet if u took a poll u would find MOST old timers buy more stuff off SC than your ftp players… hmm think in $$$ maybe then we might get some lovin! I know I spend LOADS on SC appearance items, mounts, gifts… ect hundreds tbh 🙂
