Maybe this will fix the “Must re-login to the Forums every 3 hours” and “must re-login to EQ2Players every 15 minutes” issues?

I think it’s a reaffirmation of SOE’s 92.997% Uptime Guarantee.

Anyone happen to know… If you are logged in prior to the downtime, will you be able to switch characters while the login service is down?

“Players who are already logged into game will be able to continue to play. However, if you log out you will be unable to log back in. ”

So, everyone shouldn’t log out?

Guess I’ll sit at character select overnight and hope I don’t get booted!

Would it work if you let your character autorun in a corner in order not to get booted? I get disconnected when staying at character select for a few hours…

You should be able to stay online and AFK for long periods if you log in a character and sit in a non-instanced zone. If you AFK in an instance for a certain time period (1-2 hours maybe?), you get kicked to character select.

Remember that houses and guildhalls are instances.

Dont you still have to connect to the login servers when you go to different zones? Go from Guild Hall to say Greater Divide?

I just hope they fix the Skyshrine group/raid-in-one-instance issue. It took 25 mins to get our group all in one instance so we could fight. Needs to be a way so group members can port to the other zone, or zone out and have their choice of which instance they want to be in from the Avalin (sp?) zone area.

If you log out of a character to log in to another, you will be affected by this.

So you’ll have to pick a character and stay on it 🙂

This would be an excellent time to camp a tradeskill station!

The long 24 hour downtimes are usually not for game patches more of a system wide update to login servers and other non gameplay things. this seems to be system wide as it it effects logins for all SOE services, Forums, games, accounts, EQ2, EQ1, etc.

I will be loading in a character to see if it will let me play tomorrow, but I have a feeling when I zone it will crash me.
But who knows it may just let you play normally!

SoE never stated in that link that anyone logged in, would stay logged in. I think the fansites adlibbed the “Players who are already logged into game will be able to continue to play. However, if you log out you will be unable to log back in”

All well and good except they brought the servers down.

I “adlibbed”?

I copied and pasted the original announcement. They subsequently changed it without telling anyone. SOE tends to post announcements and then revise them several times without comment, such as when they originally posted that Age of Discovery included Destiny of Velious and then ninja-changed it 45 minutes later after hundreds of people had purchased it.

Ack Feldon, it was meant in jest. I saw the change a few days ago and knew they posted all games would be unavailable. I was hoping yours was better intel. Didn’t mean to offend!

Quit because they do maintenance? LOL Sorry, that’s a bit much. There’s no point QQ’ing over them attempting to keep things up to date. Could just not ever do a maintenance and let the game fall to worse shit!

$19.95 per month =
Approx. .665 cents per day
x
1,000,000 accounts =
$665,000 with no service provided.

Seems like they should pull the plug more often.
