EQ2 Bug Sweep Underway?

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

@LempoOfGrobb poked us on Twitter to let us know that EQ2 devs have been combing through some recent threads addressing various long-standing bugs.

Regarding the Mistmoore Catacombs: The Silver Knives (and Forks and Spoons presumably!) quests, Prathun said:

I’ve modified “Silver Wares” so that the knives are always up, but you can only see them if you’re on the quest.

The overeager Kaladim Picklord Ryjeka has continued to give out level 66 items despite being located in a level 30’s zone. Prathun again:

Picklord Ryjeka no longer drops level 60 items.

According to Scavyper, some of the Obelisk of Lost Souls Book quests indicate that 10 kills are required when only five are. Prathun:

I found quite a few Obelisk of Lost Souls Book quests. Only one of them had the wrong numbers listed in the progress texts, but I went ahead and reworded all of the texts to fit our current standard. They’ll read as “Kill ” instead of “I should kill X ” The UI automatically displays the number required, so there was no need to also include it in the progress text.

Scavyper continued with the Musing on Beauty quest in the Shimmering Citadel and how the updates seem to happen only sporadically:

Muse of Beauty. Hasn’t updated correctly in years on the island portion. Sit, stand, dawn, dusk, doesn’t matter. Got tired of petitioning to have it updated, so I just skip it these days. Still, a new player would be frustrated with this, and there are so many ways to fix this quest, it tears me up to think it’s been like this over 3 years, if not from the beginning.

Prathun had this report:

I’m sorry, but I was unable to duplicate this. The quest updated fine for me in all three locations. I waited at each location for at least a minute, and received the updates when leaving the area.

Please post broken quest information in the Quests and Live Events area, with as much detail as possible to allow us to more easily track down and fix any problems.

Thanks!

Not wanting to be left out, Fyteflyte had an update on the Coldwind King Crab not dropping loot:

His file is set up to drop shoulders 100% of the time, with a rare chance to drop some other loots (as well as random zone loot). I just tested him about 20 times, and he dropped shoulders for me every time. Are you all killing him at an appropriate level? If you are above 19 he grays out and no longer drops loot for you. If you’re killing him below 20 then I’m not sure what’s going on. There isn’t anything special about his setup, it’s just a regular random loot table with one item (shoulders) set to drop every time.

This is a direct response to a player post on General Gameplay on the official forums. Thanks Dev Team for making some progress! Despite all the turmoil, things are getting done.

Thanks for posting that Feldon, I though you might want to as lately there hasn’t been a lot of good to say.
Hopefully the comments will be kept civil, those fixes don’t articularly interest me, but as Kwill said posted on the forums fixed, and updated.

Wish there was a Bug Track Forum or Facebook page that you could post “bugs” in and then get direct feedback or people that “like” the post and that way give weight to the bugs.

At the moment /bug just feels like a huge waste of time

    1. Cant Hide Griffon and Pegasus mounts
    2. Mercs Bugging out a raid
    3. Tormax Rare mount cant have a cosmetic mount
    4. even small things like the Ascent Berlons Brew quest that bugs out
    5. ect…

The current turmoil doesn’t really have anything to do with the developers, it’s just the administration and community relations team who seem to have more important things to do.

I was listening to the EQ2Talk podcast Smokesignals (#36), and they were talking about the current bug reporting having the problems where people do not get any idea of it being acted on.

It would be welcome to see long standing bugs fixed, I have a long list here of very minor things (Froglok cloak sticks up in the air on leaper mount, Froglok right foot distorted while tailoring, hand backwards provisioning, most merchants in Tupta do not sell anything etc).

They are all individually small, but together they do wear me down sometimes.

And then there is the lack of shader 3.0 ….
