December 21, 2011 Update Notes

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance, Grouping

Here are you last scheduled update notes for 2001, from the EQ2 Forums:

GENERAL

  • You may now use the command “/republish_house” to update the name of your currently published dungeon or house.
  • Note: The ability to update your currently published image using this command may not be functioning at the time of this update.

BEASTLORD

  • The warder granted Primal “Silent Talon” is now level 30.

DUNGEON FINDER

  • Adventuring in a DF group for 20 minutes will now grant you a reward once a day!

COMBAT

  • Fixed an issue where your character would sometimes spin and face away from an NPC they were fighting.

QUESTS

The City of Freeport

  • You no longer need to complete your Freeport racial questline to receive the final Freeport quest “Your Eternal Reward.”
  • The “Agent of Freeport” achievement for completing the entire Freeport questline will now work properly.  This fix is retroactive – if you’ve already completed the final quest you will get the achievement.

Beastlord Epic

  • For beastlords on the quest “The Path to Understanding”, it should now be possible to respawn Dagoranon if he is somehow despawned before you can defeat him.
  • When speaking with Grim Stormshield for the quest “One Door Closes, Another Door Opens,” and “A Way All Mercy is a Way Unjust,” you should no longer be gated if you stop speaking with him before the quests update.
  • The Spiritual Wound in the Fens of Nathsar should remain properly visible until you have finished speaking with Ralissk for the quest “One Door Closes, Another Door Opens.”
  • You should no longer be prevented from finishing the quest, “A Chance for Redemption” if you delete it and restart it.

Well dungeon finder is a flop and soe going to try this “•Adventuring in a DF group for 20 minutes will now grant you a reward once a day!”

They really don’t understand why DF is a flop. You que up and wait for hours then get a group, but then only a group of 2 or 3 because everybody else quit, then you wind up trying to get more, and you have more folks standing around.

Honestly giving a reward be being in a df group for 20 minutes is not going to make folks use it, unless they just stand there for 20 minutes trying to get more folks to run a group. Rofl folks just might do that to exploit the reward a day.

Yeah teh DF que is really messed up. Please stop putting me in dungeons in progress. If that group wipes, make them REQUE. If they keep us qued up, until all gamers were found, we’d be much happier with our PUGs

They just need to have mercenaries auto fill the group if it is not full within 15 min.

15 minutes is too long. Who wants to wait 15 minutes for a group. If it is going to auto-fil the group with mercs, then 5 minutes is better. But the damned thing STILL needs to do an equipment check prior to sending you off to a dungeon. The way it is … it just sets groups up to fail and THAT makes peeps not use it. The worst part is that this COULD be a great tool … and when it IS fixed peeps will not use it as they were previously screwed and were left with a bad taste in their mouths. It’s like getting bad service at a great restaurant, so you avoid it, then you here it is under new management, but they so pooched your last meal you never go back for fear of getting food poisoning again. It’s too bad really. They had a great idea, but like so many things they pushed it out WITHOUT doing any beta work on it and without listening to the testers and then fixing the problems. Typical … a real shame. They are just so close to delivering a great product. They WANT to be Frank Sinatra but keep delivering Pee Wee Herman.

Has anyone tried Station Launcher today? I appear to not be able to access my friend’s list any longer.

I said 15 min as that is still less time than I have seen people shouting in channel for groups for. I also think they need to have an alt selection tool, so you can put what toons you are willing to play. It can auto log you to one of the toons you checkmarked that you are willing to play.

Yeah, it is a real shame the way DF has turned out :-\ it has a lot of potential, but SoE doesn’t seem to be listening to players as to what they want to see in relation to DF features or abilities.

I definetly think some kind of gear checker is necessary. I was in a PUG last week in ToRZ & the SK tank had PQ & treasured gear on. Needless to say, we didn’t get very far. Now this was a PUG, not a DF grpup, but I’ve heard horror stories about DF groups that are about the same.

I also like the idea of being able to queue your alts while staying on your main, but the auto-logging feature to a queued alt absolutely CANNOT be allowed to be part of that. LOL Can you imagine? “Good News! We found a DF dungeon for your level 23 alt: ‘Zerkerboy’! Bad News? We auto-logged you over while you were crafting some drunder armor on your main, costing you 45 Primal Velium Shards….*Whoopsie!* What they would have to do id have a pop-up timed window (ala rez or CoH/CoV) asking you if you wanted to switch.

I’m hopeful SoE will listen to this, and other player feedback, & fix this much maligned & woefully broken tool.

🙂 thanks. Personally, I really liked the idea I believe was propsed here on EQ2Wire not to long ago of scrapping DF or morphing it into a ‘Group Builder’ instead (apologies Feldon if that was your baby, I’m sometimes compromised by the fact that my brain doesn’t let me remember everything). Rather than letting the game mash together a tank, healer & support staff players, let 1 person start a group with group builder & the plug in ppl as they appear in a queue. Possibly allow inspection of their gear beforehand. Also allow ppl to throw their alts in the queue while staying on their mains with the pop-up log-over window option.

SoE? Any of this sinking in?
