SOE’s 12 Days of StationCash Specials

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Cash

From Domino on the EQ2 Forums:

For twelve days of Frostfell, we’re picking one top selling item per day and putting it on sale at a huge discount for that one day only.  The items will change over around 10-11am (pacific time) each morning from now until the 24th of December.  Be sure to check in each day to see what’s on sale.

And on the first day of Frostfell… pick up the beautiful original Pegasus mount for only 600SC!

Check out the “sale” tab in the marketplace to find it; only till tomorrow morning, so don’t miss it!  Watch this forum or log in each day to see the new sale items.

Yeah…that IS kind of the arrangement I have with SOE. They give me entertainment and I give them money. So I’d like to present my version of your little jingle

“On the 12th day of Frostfell SOE gave to me: lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun… LOOOOOOOOTS MOOOOORE FUNNNNNNNNNN… lots more fun, lots more fun, lots more fun, and a lot mo-o-o-ore fu-nnnnnnnnnnn.”

Why is it that EQ2 horses always seem to look more like Clydesdales than Arabians?

I know a percheron is close to the classic Medieval Destrier, and therefore like a Clydesdale but really? Pretty they aint.

Actually the horses in EQ2 started as Clydesdales, then after an art revamp they were all skinny Arabian style for years. It is only recently that they have been reintroducing Clydesdale-style ones again. it is welcome to see them back really, as most war horses would be of a more bulky variety like that anyway.

If you want to get super technical, Clydesdales are actually considered a light draft. A percheron would be a better fit as a war horse, correct.

Arabians are great as light calvary (well really a thoroughbred cross would be better) but not really to haul a knight around in full armor.

As much as they like the details in the game, wish they did a little better with the horses … but I don’t ever expect much.

Well … if we are going to get technical. As we dont fight on horseback the situation is more like ridding to a tourney. So the armor would be on a pack horse, the destrier and packhorse would be lead by our squire and we would be riding something else. This of course would really only apply to plate wearers. Mages, non-plate healers brawlers and Scouts wearing leather or cloth would not have a destrier anyway. For chain wearers its a bit of a toss up.

All of you! Stop with the horse drama!

    *snaps fingers* Focus!

So far with this 12 Days of SmegBucks I’ve seen the same items on sale. I can’t remember how many items are up, maybe 16?, and they seem to have just rotated one item out. In that one slot out of all the others that have remained, there was a white pegasus and today it was the Ratonga racial set.

How about highlighting the Holidays (it is called a Holiday Event, right?), the Freeport re-vamp, tossing in double xp, etc. Whatever. Make it fun. Station Cash crap isn’t a holiday event, its just PoleSmoker shoving SmegBucks down our throat again.

What happened to content? I’m not talking about Frostfell here, that was made years ago and all they do is flick a freaking switch to activate it. I’m talking about GM events. Didn’t Lucan just renovate Freeport? Why not create a fun couple days of Frostfell events that focus on that. “Freeport’s First Frostfell” after the mess it was in, or something. Stuff like that makes sense.

Does EQ2 really have to revolve so heavily around the Marketplace now? I feel like I’m being tied to a bale of hay and they are having at me with all this crap.

Well now that were free to play, you can bet you bottom dollar that most of the content headed our way will be only in the store. The reason is all free to play games rely on the premise from Barnum Baily “There is a sucker born every minute”.

That is what SOE wants they want the suckers who love store content to buy more, and that is how they expect to make their cash now.

So your going to see more and more of the store in your lives, seen the shop now button at log in screem, that was not just an accident, that was up front buy stuff now.

Kind of sad that 80% of your content is probably going to be store based from now on.

It wouldn’t hurt to give us something useful like dbl xp, free char xfer’s, free race change potion, something worthwhile would be cool.
