Veteran Rewards for All — Not Retroactive
From SmokeJumper on the EQ2 Forums:
Until now, veteran rewards were only accumulated by subscribers. That seemed fair because, we, we were all subscribers back when the program was created.
But now, there are a lot more options available to folks, and it just doesn’t make sense that a Free or Silver player shouldn’t be able to accumulate veteran rewards.
So starting from today, that’s what’s going to happen. All players will get veteran rewards based on the date of their account creation.
It’s already happening now. You’re accumulating time as we speak. Enjoy!

UPDATE from SmokeJumper. This change is NOT retroactive. So if you played EQ2 at launch and were hoping to login and get 1-8 year vet rewards, sorry Charlie.
This change doesn’t do anything retro-actively *at all*.
The veteran time that you’ve accumulated to-date is still valid and is preserved.
The change mentioned is from that date going forward. So everyone is earning time now, but this changes nothing at all for the vet time accumulated to-date.

So it is reverting back to the old way.

Pretty much. Sucks for folks with downtime in the window when it wasn’t credited, but frankly, I’d rather they didn’t go back and ‘fix’ it, they have enough opportunities for chaos as it stands…

I have a EQ2 account created on November 8th, 2004, but because I’ve taken a couple of breaks I didn’t qualify for the 7 and 8 year veteran rewards. So when I read this, I got excited, logged in, expecting to see a 7 year veteran reward waiting for me in my claim window and nothing.
So obviously this has not been implemented yet, or only qualifies for EQ2X players.

shocking, there are bugs with it. Some people aren’t seeing new rewards others can’t claim ones that they see. lol

I think it’s a ‘going forward’ type thing, not retroactive.

Well that’s extremely unfair.

Yes it does make sense that non subscribers do not receive rewards. This is getting to be complete BS all the stuff they are giving away.

I think it is great. It is based on actual playing time. If you played for 8 years you get all 8 rewards, and as only those who PAID for 8 years are 8 year vets then they are the ones who get them now. From here on out it will be on play time. I mean why would someone who made an account 8 years ago, never paid anything, started as a free sub, get all the stuff ?

Except you all forget that for 6 years it worked exactly this way. It wasn’t till about 2 years ago they made it require a subscription. It only cared about creation date originally.
I love people complaining about complainers who don’t even realize their own complaint is the least valid.

As a player of seven years, it does not bother me in the least. I’m happy for all the FTP people.

Doesn’t bother me either, I’ve been playing since launch so have all the rewards. I’m going f2p anyhow, a couple dollars here and there to enable my fabled gear and I don’t have to pay a monthly sub anymore.
