December 6th — 12 Hour Downtime Notification

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Expansion News

From EverQuest2.com:

We’re just hours away from Age of Discovery, Game Update 62: Freeport Reborn and EverQuest II going free-to-play! There’s a lot of exciting stuff going on so naturally, we’ll be having an extended downtime.

Important: This is an estimate of our anticipated downtime; please keep an eye on the forums and Facebook for any changes and updates!

All EQII and EQ2X servers will come offline at 12:01 AM PST* on Tuesday, December 6th, to prepare for this massive transition and content update. We anticipate game servers will be back online before 12:00 Noon PST*. Due to the volume of data involved, international servers will experience extended downtime.

In addition, SOE account management and commerce services will be offline in all games during the transition period. Forums may also experience periodic outages. Remember that the EQ2X forums will be locked tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM PST*. We warmly welcome all EQ2X forum users to take this time to register anew on the EQII forums; you can start posting there now!

We are proud to announce that you’ll also find a shiny new website when EverQuest II comes back online. We hope you enjoy our new, streamlined look!

Don’t miss our “Countdown to Age of Discovery” launch day webcast, beginning at 8:00 AM PST* on Tuesday morning! We’ll interview bleary-eyed, hardworking members of the EverQuest II team, provide live status updates – we’ll even have some opportunities to win EQII shwag! We’ll be on the air until 9:45 AM PST*, so tune in on TwitchTV for the webcast while you wait for the servers to come back online.

Finally, look for a Producer’s Letter from Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson, bright and early tomorrow morning, to usher in a new era for EverQuest II!

If you haven’t yet bought your Age of Discovery expansion, there’s still time to pre-order! Pre-orders end on December 5, 2011 at 11:59 PM PST*. If you pre-order the game, you can lock in special savings and get a unique pre-order item. Click here to get it now!

You can expect the game to be completely for the next 2 months.

Necromancer, people like you are what’s wrong with the game. You are the first to whine and moan but yet instead of leaving you keep playing and make it a bad experience for everyone else.

Rofl I think you left out a word there Necromancer between complete and the word “for” I think we can say messed up.

I expect tons of patches and patches to patches to fix the mess were fixing to have. There will still getting reports this week end of the new suburb quests zones and folks not being able zone into them.

To bad that SJ and company are not listing to these reports, and that they are bound and determined to push out this xpac before swtor gets here. They even already said we know were going to have a lot of patches.

Why are EU players again 2nd rate customers ?

Quote: “Due to the volume of data involved, international servers will experience extended downtime.”

Why the hell does not SOE pre-transfer the data to EU side before taking servers offline ?

As I work for IT services now I truly know SOE are bunch of noobs and none of the personnel know how business is done or how IT services work. Any global company with any intelligence or wisdom in their head would bring All servers down at same time and bring all servers up at exactly the same time.

I can’t say I’m disappointed anymore. I just say how stupid they are when they never learn.

12 hours + Downtime is not much for the most thrilling Expansion the mmo-world ever seen *rofl*. But I wonder why Data-Volume for our Servers is bigger than for U.S. ? Maybe the have to charte a second Steamboat to carry it over the Atlantic…. 🙂

Test Phase 2 is rolling out around 3pm? How can anyone expect this to go smoothly when they really did test it anyhow.

Ah yes. All that data… Splitpaw Saga Had more content then this joke and the servers were down shorter.

So, new expansion (features), Frostfell, GU62 and Freeport revamp, Free-to-play integration, and new EQ2 website… anyone else thinking they are biting off more than they can chew and there is no way this will not be a monumental fail and patch fest? I want to be optimistic but this sounds like a lot to organize effectively and roll out.

I am not even going to bother logging in today. I didn’t buy the expansion, anyway, so no reason to, really.

Protip: 12 hour downtime means at least 15 hour downtime in Sony-ese

Protip II: Additional downtime for European servers is because it takes several hours longer for data to travel overseas, not because the customer base is smaller and less important to the corporate bottom line

They’ve also locked my toons on all of my accounts Kharn. Which are also payed for, I can’t even get into the game because of the Nagafen and Vox merge. I pre-ordered the expansion on all my accounts as well. This is Ridiculous…
