EQ2, SOE Twice Knocked Out By Brief Level 3 Outages

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:04pm PDT, SOE games and services became inaccessible to a large number of people due to what some observers have described as a routing problem between the San Diego and Dallas, TX routers on the Level 3 backbone. The outage lasted about 10 minutes.

Today, at 10:27am PDT, SOE services were again briefly knocked offline, this time for approximately 15 minutes.

It’s unclear if this is part of a pattern or a couple of isolated incidents. More as we have it…

Ah, yes. I remember todays outage. Really thought I had overtaxed the server. Was trying to harvest from a root on the mound in Toxxulia (hehe). Kept trying to log back in and being told I already had a toon in the game. Finally gave up in disgust.

If this is a precursor to SOE getting hacked again, then I will leave as a customer forever. There are just too many other options, apparently safer options, out there then to risk my credit and personal information again.

Seems Level3 is having some issues in or around Dallas, causing my net to be slower then a snail.
