  1. With the changes to stat effects, what do debuffs (such as those form a Defiler)do now? For example, debuffing wisdom used to have an immediate impact on the mob as then spells hit for more damage. Now it does absolutely nothing if they are not a wisdom-based casting monster?

  2. Oke, I’m done. I was waiting for this to show up to decide wether to re-sub or not. Again a major overhaul in gear and stats. Increased AA to 300, how awfull if you want to level an alt.
It is clear this game is borrowing a LOT from WoW nowadays, I thought it used to be the other end around. So I’m currently playing WoW again and enjoying everything it has to offer. What a relief to find everything functioning there, lots of content to explore and master. Just started doing those heroics from Cataclysm, damn that stuff is challenging, a challenge I missed in EQ2 for quite some time.
I can’t do rift, bored me from the very title screen.
For now WoW, think when I’m bored with that I’m totally done with MMO’s, most suffer from the same syndrome or just won’t hold my attention.

    I never say never…

  3. Alien maybe you should try EVE. I tried it once, wasn’t for me but if your looking for something completely different in the mmo world that would be it.

As for the update notes, I didn’t expect much more I guess. It list the mechanics changes and new features for everyone whether they getting DoV or not. And besides listing zone count item count stuff they arnt going to spoil much about DoV. as far as challenging KD is suppose to be very good. You might find this expansion a bit more exciting than the last.

  4. Personally I’m looking forward to it. I just need to completely redo my AA as I promised my group I’d spec fortissimo once the multi-attack cap was removed. Over all it’s not as bad as what people have made it out to be.

  5. Thanks for the laugh Alienshine, the bit about WoW : Cataclysm and “bringing the challenge back” was some of the most amusing sarcasm I’ve read for a long time. Like you I guess we’ve seen exactly what that meant (I actually went AFK for 15 minutes to make a cup of tea during one of the quest fights while the other NPC’s continued to battle “to save the world”, lol).

When I was in a life and death fight with a elite skeleton 3 levels below me in DoV its clear this expansion definitely isn’t going the same direction as WoW.

Still back to the patch notes, most of it I was expecting, the first things to see though will be how I can support on my laptop graphics card wise, and how the water revamp effects things (I’m pleased to see the devs are up to diving into old code like this and fixing it, I was starting to think that it was too old + too complex to touch again even though things have gotten steadily worse over time (the reflections were always offset for me even since RoK), instead they seemed to have done a better job then the original coders).

  6. Feldon you’ve played this game long enough to know that all expansions are also known as ‘game updates.’ There are players who are not current with the latest expansion of the game and the ‘updates’ apply to all releases of the game including early expansions.

What I meant is, this is the first time SOE have done a Game Update for an expansion without having a separate numbering scheme for that update. Sentinel’s Fate was also Game Update 55.

  7. Lol, hahaha. I mention WoW and everyone is upset. Nice.
Well, I was septic first too but I found those heroics a good challenge.
Call me noob whatever I don´t care. I raided here long enough to know what EQ2 is all about, to me at least that is 😉
I really love this game too but it also comes with a lot of frustration if you follow the news and the developments. I can sum some stuff up but when you browse a bit through the forums, official and non-officials you´l get the idea.
Why would I still read Wire…
I´m still very interested in EQ2 and hope some other developer buy´s the franchise to run it correctly !

    @Murfalad
Yes I tried EVE on several occasions. Seemed solid but in the end, I want some actions, weather it swords clashing or a certain EQ2 class shooting cows in the heat of action. That sort of thing.

  8. I’ve yet to log in today but this change to items +health + power, Will i log in to find that my raid toon’s sentinel’s fate raid armor that took me so long to get is going to be reduced to total crap, or will they have merged the health / power into the primary stat, or at least kept the effect of +health + power on those items as normal? If they made me have thousands less health when i log in, I’m probably going to rage quit. That is one messed up way of keeping customers. Have them work tirelessly ubering themselves, then mess up everything they acquired.

  9. “Custom UI modders: Added Self.AverageItemScore to dynamic data. It is the average item score of all of your currently equipped items.”

Damned gearscore ! they really learn nothing ….

The expansion itself is not synonymous with the update but rather concurrent with it, the difference being that those who do not acquire the expansion still experience the changes of the update.
