On Test: Velium Shards Go Further, Adornments More Flexible

A couple of interesting items appeared in today’s Test Update Notes:

  • The amount of Velium Shards required for Shard Armor has been reduced.
  • Several Yellow, Red, and War Rune adornment procs will now trigger on both spell and melee hits.

These changes do not appear in today’s Live Update Notes, so if you have had your eye on certain Adornments or Shard Armor, you might want to wait to see when this change goes live.

Also, in case you missed it in today’s live update notes, players who participate in Tradeskill Group Instances (granted these days, most people choose to solo them for 3 grueling hours ) now have a chance to receive 2 recipe books to make Velious armor/jewelry.

    hello, can anyone from tc check how many shards needed for rygor shard armor on eastern wastes?

    It is 52 instead of 70 per armor piece on test(head, shoulders, wrist, hands, legs and feet) plus the specific gem drop for each armor piece,

    So if a player can now make the Velious shard armor do you still need the Faction? For example: You need 40,000 Ry’Gor faction to buy the armor. But do you need faction to have it made by a crafter with the recipe?

    thats a good point. i cant check it now.. on EU server isnt patched actually. Tomorrow i will run crafter instance and i will answer this hopefully.

    I have no idea how you’d even implement that. The more important faction would seem to be with the person crafting the stuff for you… 🙂

    Sorry, I find the solo tradeskill missions to be painfully slow and they do take me 3 hours including nodding off and having to get up and walk around a bit. But I will do it for these recipes.

    I’ve gotten one report that neither the recipient of the armor, nor the crafter need Ry’Gorr or other faction. So I can see it now “Don’t have faction with Thurgadin or Ry’Gorr? Got lots of shards you can’t spend? No problem! Now crafting Velious armor — no faction required!”

    Two well geared tradeskillers and the instances become interesting (there is a glimmer of a chance for the 1 hour bonus loot chance reward).

    Getting three and its business, got to admit though I’ve never had the pleasure of a full group.

    This would be good news if anyone on my server did DoV instances, but as it is I don’t really have a way to earn even the reduced number of shards that I’d need to make this stuff. And I don’t think the lower price tag is going to drive people to do instances if they aren’t already.

    It just occurred to me that this is likely going to be the nail in the coffin for PQs. At least the SG version. Most people run these for faction these days, I think.
