The first five level-agnostic dungeons, open to level 20-89 players, as well as the availability of Grandmaster spells at all levels and tiers, is expected this Thursday. Racheal “Afista“ has posted an in-depth preview of what we can expect on the EQ2 Forums:
We’re excited about Level Agnostic Dungeons and Grandmaster Spells coming to EverQuest 2 on Thursday, October 2, 2014! So what exactly are these dungeons and why should you check them out?
Level Agnostic Dungeons
Level Agnostic Dungeons are instances in which characters between levels 20-89 have a chance to group together, regardless of the difference in their adventure level. These dungeons are accessible by joining the queue on your Dungeon Finder Tab (Alt + Z) from the EQ2 Options Menu. Within each dungeon, adventurers will be able to battle heroic monsters and receive individual rewards based on their own level. This is a chance to earn great XP and enjoy a new spin on some classic dungeons!
There are currently 5 Level Agnostic Dungeons that have been adjusted so players can relive the fun or experience these wonderful zones for the first time. The first dungeons to be released will be: Charasis: Maiden’s Chamber, Library of Erudin, Najena’s Deep Forge, Vasty Deep: The Conservatory, and Temple of the Faceless.
Charasis: Maiden’s Chamber is full of glowing runes and frightening foes. Are you willing to make your way through these treacherous catacombs and confront Drusella Sathir?
The Library of Erudin is the perfect zone for adventurers who want to solve a mystery. Search for clues throughout the zone and help discover who murdered the Scholar Primarch!
Najena’s Deep Forge is a lava filled dungeon in the volcanic depths of Lavastorm. Are you brave enough to fight through the fiery space and face Firelord Kaern?
It’s hard to deny the beauty found in Vasty Deep: The Conservatory, but there’s also danger concealed in the gorgeous halls of this instance. Are you willing to discover what treasure the mighty dragon, Delahnus the Dauntless, is guarding?
The Temple of the Faceless holds many horrors found within the Eidolon Jungle. Adventurers will need to travel deep into the temple in order to face the mighty dragon, Venekor, and claim his loot!
We also plan to add cross-server grouping capability to these Level Agnostic Dungeons when that system launches next year!
Grandmaster Spells
In addition to the release of Level Agnostic Dungeons, we are also introducing Grandmaster Spells for All-Access Members! These upgraded spells will be available for research in your character’s knowledge book as well as be available via crafting. All tradeskillers will be able to obtain the ability to craft Grandmaster Spells, but crafting these spells isn’t for the faint of heart!
Players can also check out the EQ2 Trader’s Corner fansite where Niami Denmother has put together a break-down of Grandmaster Spell information.
All of this is coming in the patch, currently scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2014! What will you do first after this update?
If you’re wondering why Thursday instead of the usual Tuesday, here’s Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on twitter:
Our update this week for Level Agnostic Dungeons and Grandmasters will be Thursday. Had some weird bugs we wanted to squash! #eq2

Oh, and P.S., with our Thursday Grandmasters launch, F2P players will be able to research/scribe up to Master tier spells. #eq2 — Holly Longdale (@WindstalkerEQ2) September 30, 2014
Oh dear. Not only will the recipe requirement for the Grandmaster spell put demand up for the existing supply of Masters, but also we have a whole new group of players able to scribe masters, also putting up demand for these items.
But no mention of an increase in the drop rate.
F2P Demand on masters won’t be that much greater. People were already able to scribe the dropped books at 30 cents each.
As for the drop rate, they only ever say anything about a drop rate when, in their eyes, it was broken and needed a fix. That doesn’t mean it won’t change at all.
I remember when master drops were so rare players that had all masters were akin to demi-gods. XD
Is that the only way to reach the Level Agnostic Dungeons? Or can you make your own group and go zone in at the original corresponding zone in?
I’m not sure if you can access the zones from their original zone in, but you CAN make your own group, then zone in using the Dungeon Finder / Instance window. Your whole group will get a window asking if they want to zone in, similar to how Dungeon Maker works.
So you can have a pre-made group, it does not have to be a random group.
Aha, I did not know that was possible! 😀
Will invites be available? Like, if you have an AFKing tank, can you boot him and invite someone you know is reliable, but hadn’t logged in till you were already in the zone?
You know I never thought to test that. I really should have since our small guild likes to group together and it’s not unusual for one or more of us to come on later. Would be nice to be able to invite that person to the group and have them join us if it’s not in at launch I will definitely be submitting /feedback.
It’s a shame Level Agnostic Dungeons are capped at L89. That makes them mostly useless for the majority of guilds and friends who want to group with lower level toons to get them involved
They’re capped at 89 due to the huge spike in power at level 90 which makes balancing difficult for those over level 90. They have said that they’re working on adding in level 90 – 100 it just won’t be in this first push.
I don’t know about you but while I have 6 level 95’s I also have at least 8 other alts ranging in levels from 27 to 89. I’d have no problem coming up with an alt to group with friends and guildies using these.
Yet, again $OE puts in something new proving they have no idea how the playerbase actually plays.
Roughly 2/3 of characters logged into EQ2 are under level 95. That tells me the EQ2 team are focusing their attention right where they should — adding some content that makes 1-85 fun AND give a reward that will be useful when you do hit 95.
There’s plenty of lv 95 content without needing to make these dungeons for them too.
I will use it to learn how to heal on my mystic and Templar and defiler and fury lol. I just solo with my warden and inq
new flash update delayed
