SOE Misses Own Bonfire Event — Time Zone Malfunction?

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Live Events

It seems that SOE has also been caught up in the difference between when the US goes off Daylight Savings Time (changed in 2007 to the first Sunday in November) and Europe which goes off Daylight Savings on the last Sunday in October.

It’s now 1 hour and 20 minutes past the scheduled time for SOE’s Bonfire Night celebration on the Splitpaw server and there’s no sign of an event happening.

Hey it could happen to anyone…

Well, judging from the recent and historical fails of the CR team, who’s really surprised that something else was added to the pile.

Remember remember the fifth of November
    Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
    Should ever be forgot…

We burned Mr. Fawkes in real life.

    Was a rather nice evening.

It used to be a big thing in Australia too (lots of Brits came to Australia in the 60’s and 70’s, including me). But under the corrosive influence of US dominated television it has waned to insignificance and Halloween is becoming dominant.

I wish I could say I’m suprised they messed up, but I’d be lying.

I suppose it was the thought that counts. I left at 10 and no SOE person had arrived, but in the hour there were all kinds of festivities provided by the people themselves, which is all in the spirit of Bonfire Night, so it was good.
