Bug: Characters Being Granted Spells Beyond Their Level

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

In several threads on the EQ2 Forums, players have documented a bug first reported today that has low level characters being auto-granted high level spells which they cannot use. The new spells replace the older ones on player’s hotbars, yet cannot be cast due to level restrictions. The temporary workaround is to crack open one’s Knowledge book and rummage around for the the level-appropriate versions.

The issue has been brought to the attention of EQ2 developers and we’ll update as we hear more.

This issue has been happening on the beta server, especially for channelers in particular (I’ve had some level 95 spells since my early teens, and I’m still only level 80). I’m glad all our testing and report finds its way to live first so they can test it there, too! That’s so very thoughtful of them . . .

I had this happen on one of my level 92 characters last night that’s been around since July of 2006. Logged in and was granted a level 93 and a level 94 spell. Quite odd.

This “but” has been around for years.

It’s an annoying but. I hope they fix it soon. 😉

Could be worse.. could have to stare blankly at the spellbook trying to regain mana while having to play GEMS to relieve the boredom

Honestly I have zero problems with this “bug.” It lets you get started on researching abilities & spells ahead of time.
