Legends of Norrath “Sync” Issues

While Legends of Norrath may not be receiving much developer attention these days, it still has a playerbase, with people logging in to open loot cards for in-game items in their native games (EQ and EQ2), and people running the in-game scenarios for rewards or just the enjoyment of it.

Over the past few days, players have been experiencing “synchronization” issues with their cards disappearing from their inventory. Some quotes:

When I check my collection tab it shows that I have 0 cards. I tried to validate game files, open and close the LoN window, delete and reinstall.. It’s still showing that I don’t have anything.

When I click on my profile information, it show’s a history of all the previous packs that I opened. What’s going on? =[

and this insightful post on Tuesday Jan 6th from Tnexus:

This is like the 4th time in 5 months something this has happened, so it’s not new for a lot of us sadly. Lemme explain how the server works from what I’ve gathered.

When you first log in, your client automatically calls up the LoN Asset Server using your credentials to tell your client what you own and what you don’t own. Your computer then keeps a record of this which will display on your screen. What’s happening with this bug is that for whatever reason, the Asset Server is failing to sync when your LoN client is requesting the data, so your computer isn’t getting your collection info. Rest assured though, none of your cards, packs, or loot are actually missing. The Asset Server is also responsible for private trades and posted trades, so when you try to trade, it’s going to fail. Any posted trades you completed, but never received anything for will be granted when this is fixed.

To give you an update from SOE, Jennifer Chan, the Tech Director for EQ/EQ2/LoN told me at 5:15pm Pacific that they’ve confirmed it’s an Assets Server issue, and she’s looped in the correct people to try to fix it. The last time it happened though, it was over a weekend and wasn’t fixed until business hours, so I wouldn’t expect to see a fix until Wednesday morning at the earliest.

Today, Customer Service sent out this notice to several players who had opened tickets on the subject:

This message is being sent to everyone who has a ticket currently in the Legends of Norrath queue. The issues regarding customer’s collections and purchases is being looked into. Once the issue has been fixed I’ll try to send everyone another message letting you all know.

I don’t know if this is related, but I didn’t get my monthly packs this month.

It seems I was lucky, I got all my packs on all seven accounts and was able to claim all my goodies. I claimed and opened my packs on January 1, 2015.

I claimed my packs yesterday, and had to reload a couple of my accounts a few times before they appeared. Sometimes I’d select which packs I wanted, hit redeem, and nothing would show. I’d reload LoN again and there they are. So if you’re having trouble getting your packs my suggestion is… reload the client until it works 😉
