“Update Coming to AAs” Let the Speculation Begin

Written by Feldon on . Posted in EQ2, Game Updates & Maintenance

After today’s announcement that Dungeon Maker XP and Rewards are going byebye resulted in some particularly grotesque language on the official forums, we’re looking for any positive news that might help soften the blow. A refund for those who purchased Dungeon Maker in the last 90 days would be nice, but in the meantime, Holly “Windstalker” Longdale’s has posted something mysterious on Twitter about AAs.

Maybe the player-unfriendly 280AA/90 hard limit is being removed in favor of a curve or a polite warning or something other than “You shall not pass!”

Let the speculation begin!

Let me tell you i do not care cause at this point it’s like SOE has punched me in the gut a few times then all of a sudden when i think another is coming they give me a piece of candy hoping i will forgive the times they treated me like a punching bag. Whatever it is expect most of the people pissed to soften and go — Ahh how nice and forget the other crap they have done.

A while ago, they talked about adding a functionality to subtract points from any spot without having to redo everything that was spent after. This is probably what’s coming.

This would be my hope too, I think it would prove to be a massive quality of life improvement for AA’s.

So what’s the big news? You have available AA points to assign. Would you like to spend SC to allow you to assign these points?

Hopes: Every level you earn 1 AA automagically. Uncapping the AA limit to the limit of the trees. Allowing free to play to goto 0% instead of locking at 50%. Instead of locking at 100% until you ding 280 AAs to get past 90, it locks at 50%-75% transfer until you hit 280. Revamp of the AA window to allow all kinds of quality of life improvements.

What it will really be: Allowing free to play to goto 0% instead of locking at 50%.

I fear for the worse.. some good suggestions in here already. Perhaps they’ll change AA to work more like prestige so you’re granted x amount of points per level. Dunno.

I hope this isn’t a massive disappointment.. they could do with some good will after the recent issues, building this up as an amazing update when it’s just unlocking the slider for F2P is going to annoy a lot of people.

I used to be excited about things like this. Now I am very meh. SOE had really lost my enthusiasm over the years. sigh

Uncap the AA. Let us get them all like EQ1. It will give you a reason to grind.

I would love uncapped AA, but that would really kill the way they set things up. Now maybe you could say uncapped trees. So you can build your character any way you want. You still have a certain amount of AA to spend, but spend it any way you want.

All uncapped AA would do is make heroic groupers demand “Max AA” as part of their pitch, along with the resist/mit demandments that have sprung up since expac launch.

Hopefully they are taking the hell level of the 340-350 range and making it like normal aa numbers. As far as dm I used it mainly to get marks for repair kits, and debt removers and stuff, taking out the dm marks, ensures that nobody will use it again and it reverts to decorate your dm zone. SOE sure seams to be blowing it

I believe that’s already been cut down some and it wouldn’t be something they would tease like this.

As far as DM goes, it was supposed to be more about the decorating and less about the massive xp farm which developed, so that vision is still on track. Honestly, the part that ruined DM was them caving on the idea of people playing as their own characters. That opened up the flood fates on the grindy zones being produced.
