All Access Transition Postponed til April 29th

Written by Feldon on . Posted in EQ2, Free-to-Play (EQ2X), Game Updates & Maintenance

For the third time, the transition from individual Gold subscriptions for each of SOE’s games to a single All Access pass has been postponed. From Dexella on the SOE forums:

Dear Players,

In an effort to ensure that the transition to the new All Access membership plan is as seamless as possible, we are going to be taking a little more time to test. So, we will be pushing the launch date of All Access to Tuesday, April 29th. Because of the portfolio-wide nature of this plan, this may prevent us from doing any individual game updates in EverQuest, EverQuest II, Planetside 2, and DC Universe Online. These updates will resume normally after the All Access launch. We appreciate your patience and you’ll agree that our new membership offering is worth the wait.

Atleast they’re taking the time to make sure it works before releasing it.

So since it says it will prevent them from doing individual game updates, I take that to mean that contested High Keep is NOT coming tomorrow.

Based on the wording, I don’t see anything that says HK won’t happen tomorrow. Honestly, doing HK + the new plan on the same day seemed to be just asking for trouble, imo. Should work out better this way.

This sounds to me like they are saying we could possibly not see contested HK. It says it may prevent them from doing game updates. Contested HK is certainly a game update, at least from the history of their use of the term game update.

As frustrating as this is to see it pushed back yet again, I can’t help but feel bad for the EQ2 team as they’re pulled in every direction at once by corporate.

From what I understand, the weekly updates (no matter what!) were mandated by corporate. And now we have this all-access change as well. The devs must not know which way is up anymore with all of this being thrown at them while they try to work on another expansion.

This change is going to test their billing system, I would hate to see a monthly charge of $15 hit me for every SOE game that is part of the all access. Get this shit right SOE, the odds and record are both against you.

Since the head start contested HK is tied in to the all access pass, I doubt it will come out on Wed and will be delayed for a simultaneous update next Tues.

I’d assume people would be pretty angry if they did get hit with an extra charge, maybe be to take their time with the change than open that can of worms.

I thought they may wait until 1 May to avoid prorating the monthly SC allowance. I was wrong.

Give it time Striinger, still a few more days to go.

So can anyone officially tell us if The Contested High Keep Zone is releasing today or not?

Between the ‘no updates until April 29th’ and the lack of patch notes, it’s pretty clear there will be no High Keep today.

I just hope they get it right, with every time they push it back, i keeping hearing the voices from multiple movies and tv shows all of them saying “I got a bad feeling about this”. If they mess this up were going to have tons of billing issue, something I know that soe does not want, and does not have the staff to deal with.

Which is why they keep pushing it back so the billing issues DON’T happen . . . The only thing REALLY bad about this is the “no more updates until we get this working” thing . . .

I use kronos and my gold account is up on the 27th should I wait for this to go in on the 29th and not buy a krono on the 27th or go ahead and buy one? Are we getting a free month with this?

If you buy a Krono, then your Gold sub will become an All Access sub on the 29th. If you don’t buy a Krono, then you will be on “Free” aka Bronze on the 29th until such time as you decide to buy a sub again. No, you don’t get a free month.
