What’s the Age of Discovery Release Date? It Depends!
I have to give props to SOE for doing a solid job putting together all the FAQs, Announcements, and information being posted today (even if some of it has frustratingly changed at the last minute). It has been a lot clearer than past announcements. That said, we can’t help but notice three different answers to a simple question:
What’s the release date for EverQuest II: Age of Discovery?
Pre-Order Announcement — Winter 2011
EQ2 CM Announcement — November 30, 2011
SmokeJumper’s Producer’s Letter — early December
If you’re confused, trust me, you’re not alone.
UPDATE from SmokeJumper:
We are saying “early December” at this time to give ourselves a bit of breathing room. It may come in earlier than that if the stars align nicely.

They’ll release AoD in accordance to how many different things they can break in-game in accordance to how long it will take to fix them.

All these issues will be fixed once they finally get f2p turned on. Because we all know that what this game has needed to fix it is an influx of freeloaders.

They have really taken a great game and ran it into the ground. I’ve really had fun the last 5 or so years. I wish someone new that really loves EQ would take over and do a reboot and take it back to the way it was before SJ. I hope you guys the best Im going to take a break from EQ2 for a while. 🙁

[…] November 30th… or Winter 2011 (December 22 on my calendar)” or maybe some other date. SOE seems confused on that […]

What a clown show. I mean, they are a multi-million dollar corporation and they put out mixed messages like this? Someone needs to have their job shifted to something they can handle.

Well considering the “everything happens at the same time in mid December” post is from Smokejumper who has repeatedly gotten things wrong, I tend to believe the CM post….

They are just being shy about making it Dec 15th. It’ll eventually be announced that “everything is finally ready and Dec 15th is the ideal Christmas present to you all”. I’ll still be playing SW:ToR if they do as the AA increase won’t be making much of a difference to my raiding Coercer. (not saying that I’m quitting EQ2 btw, just that there is nothing prompting me to jump into DoV over trying out ToR)

Extreme Failure…
SoE needs to reshuffle their marketing team, and actually do something to set an exact date, This is getting really ridiculous.
The BETA test was late….

My bet is January, based on the farce that accompanied the release of DoV.
