Getting Copied to Test Copy Quicker

Written by Feldon on . Posted in DGC Wants Feedback

Zoltaroth has made some changes to the automated Test Copy scripts so that characters will copy within hours rather than being on a 24-48 hour cycle as they are now. To copy a character to Test Copy, type /testcopy add on any live server. You will then need to choose to login to the Test server when starting up EQ2 with your choice of launcher.

From the EQ2 Forums:

I’ve gone ahead and rewritten the Test Copy scripts.

Copies will now happen every hours instead of once a day. This means you will see your character apear on the Test Copy server much sooner than previously. There is still a queue of characters so your copy may be a bit delayed while copies are processed.

You will now only receive 1 copy per 24 hour period. This means that even if you put in a copy request at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm only your 4pm copy will be honored. This is to reduce the amount of copies we do that are extranious.

Further, Zoltaroth will be checking in a change for the future where it will no longer be necessary to create at least one new character before your copied characters show up. For now, go ahead and create a new character on Test or Test Copy to make sure you can see any and all copied characters.

It’s not really a glitch, rather it’s an optimization where the servers you never created characters on do not check the DB for characters since.. you never made one there. That said we have created an override flag and once that gets set in one of the next patches this requirement should go away.
