  1. What do you mean you’re surprised that enough people visit player-decorated dungeons to have noticed? Either you forgot the sarcasm tag, or didn’t realize that people skip most of the content nowadays by running DM.

The most popular zones had 20 mobs in each corner with the Decrease Level object in the room (which doesn’t reduce exp like the Decrease Tier), and 5-6 people in group to cap exp gain. Then you just had a Beserker or Warden/Fury tearing up the zone.

    1. Sadly he’s right–the potential of this feature was squandered long ago, making it a feature for XP farming and little else. Frankly it should have been put out of its misery well before now.

  2. Feldon, you crack me up.

For serial alt addicts, the Dungeon Maker zones built for leveling are a great boon. True you can (and I have) purchase level 85 toons, but there’s 70 some AA and 10 more levels to gain once you have them.

If need be, can always go back to the Sebilis > 90 SS > 95 route but it will be packed at the start of the next expansion pack if the DM stuff stays.

Edit: looks like Kander just posted that it is a bug.

    1. It just annoys me that a feature that had so much promise is used as a dumb way to powerlevel characters. Might as well have put in a browser page that you click a Cow every 5 minutes and gain levels that way.

      1. I’m down with the cow page concept.

Seriously, they should have made it so the heroics had two teirs, 85 and 95. Or just had 95 automatically. then you can just pay, or play.

      2. If they would only allow options for line-of-site vs proximity based aggro, and the ability to make mobs ignore AoEs if wanted, it would make it much better than it currently is.

Now throw some housing actors in there, and give us the ability to offer quests and use lua scripting to script encounters.

We’d have player studio but for content!

  3. Feldon – amen!

I would have loved more layouts and things to decorate a dungeon with that was actually fun and interesting instead of a decorator’s folly (as some would see it). But I guess it is just something easier said than done – or implemented.

  4. I want to click cows!

I just don’t have the time or energy to spend leveling a bunch of toons. So I pretty much focus on one toon – and sometimes a second toon will get some love after the first one is fully decked out. But I would love to be more useful in our groups instead of always playing “just another mage” – I’ve got a dirge, a troub, and an inquisitor all at max level thanks to DM – but they sit on the shelf for lack of gear (ok, and skill at playing them). And when the level cap goes up, they will be all but dead.

  5. I am still dissapointed that after many promises EQ2 team didn’t do anything with DM. I am sure when this feature will be implemented into Landmark then the big fireworks will start.

DM has a huge potential if only EQ2 would start thinking what they can do with many other “featurea” they implemented and forgot about them…

  6. They should have looked at the game Neverwinter and revamped the DM to match theirs. In Neverwinter you can place actual NPC’s to give out quests etc throughout the zone you created while you can also decorate the entire zone anyway you want to. Players who then enter the DM then get a big reward at the end of the zone for completion and the trash mobs even drop useful items for use in the game like potions etc.

For now its just place a bunch of mobs in the zone and use it for power-leveling nobody goes into them for any other reason to my knowledge.

  7. well the way I see it if soe was not so stingy about the meager xp it awards for quests in the real world part of the game folks would not resort to running ss, and or dm to get xp, maybe they should think about why people run dm. I don’t I cant stand it and it does not level green adornments.

  8. My dungeon maker quest would read as follows:

Sheesh! It smells like raw sushi in here! Hey, do me a favor and kill 1,000 Yha-lei to reduce the putrid stench in here.

    15 seconds later….

Hey thanks! It smells a little better…Here’s your reward.
    Raw Sushi run
Hahaha sorry if i ruined it for anyone. 🙂

  9. Though i like the DM idea to the fact they gave us a way to make them in the game . Though i believe it is way way OP like Blacktop said above “yeah i gindup a lvl 90 280 AA’s in dungeon maker in about 5 or 6 hours,”. Really 6 hours who needs the game anymore. Why even play it if that’s what you are going to do. Though i really don’t like the heroic char either if ever possible i kick them out of groups. Sorry but grinding a fast 10 levels to 90 and think they know their chars and get everyone in group killed. Plus making a 3 minute zone take 2 hours.
