UPDATE: Servers are now up!!

Original article after the jump…

There are lots of moving parts to get an MMO expansion up and running. We’re now an hour+ overdue and it looks like Platform had a little more work to do before everything could get rolling. So here’s a funny pic…

so 7+hours, completely diffrent store that was told to us at SOE Live and now having to wait even longer to get in, sounds like someone forgot to tell Sony that there are folks with limited play time, oh don’t forget the over pricing of the CE. hummmmmmmmmmmm 😥

13:07 – We haven’t heard word that we can test/verify yet, so you can go eat dinner! It might be another 30 to 60 minutes.

Funny they say that 2 QA teams are checking stuff.. didn’t know they had a QA team at the first place tbh 😛

I don’t really do twitter so thanks for these updates.
Was beginning to wonder if they just gave up on the whole expansion and took a early night.

The question we should be asking ourselves is, when hasn’t there been any overdue updates…

What is it like 2+ hours over due? all this QA check this and that could be prevented if you actually did that before launching it? pretty sure Expansions aren’t meant to be released and be full of bugs unless of course your SOE then its perfectly OK 🙂

Every single MMO I’ve played has had pushed back server uptimes for expansion releases; I dunno what you’ve played, lol.

In the spirit of SOE’s new ‘transparency’, I think that rollouts like this should have a progress indicator that shows “where they are” much like Fedex does when you’re waiting on a package to arrive:

All Locked > Game Uploaded > Patchers Up > Buy Now > Testing Upload integrity > Breakfast > Testing connectivity > Load testing > Integration Testing > Pause for effect (Dinner) > Sales threshold reached > Unlock servers
    Followed by…
All locked > emergency hotfix (is it really ‘hot’ if you have to reboot the server?) > Unlocked

    🙂

I think Feldon should get some of the choice phrases from the comment sections put on a t-shirt to wear at SOE Live. =)

I think the funniest part is that someone somehow thinks that Feldon has something to do with, or any influence on, anything related to EQ2, or SOE. Anyone who has spent any time here knows that to be the furthest from the truth.

Actually I’m pretty sure it’s just a troll trying to spark a conversation.

            Don’t feed the trolls.

Actually Feldon is the Official SOE Keeper of the Hampster Herd which unofficially keep the servers running. He is part of a mega conglomerate that feeds these hampsters way too much BBQ. BBQ in turn turns them into raging carnivores and thus as evil as most squirrel packs (SQUIRREL!!!) but this is the only way to keep them running…. Feldon for gawd sakes feed them perogies and all shall be well!!! (it is entirely possible I’m having withdrawal symptoms)

Feldon and company should get the SOE Live expenses paid treatment. Like the other ‘what’s their name?’ sites.

Not a t-shirt he has to pay for.

Hahhahaha. No. It would result in hilarity and face-palming at the same time, I assure you, because that’s where we’re at as amazingly elusive wee issues come up from alternate universes.

Still, I think the issue is that I am repeatedly slamming my Dwarven fist on the login servers in my eagerness to get in. Wonder if that’s a firing offense? ;-)#

How long is the face-palming expected to continue, sir? Rough dwarven guestimation?
