Worried About the AA Reset? EQ2U Has You Covered

Written by Feldon on . Posted in EQ2 Data & EQ2U, Expansion News

With the EverQuest II: Chains of Eternity expansion comes new Prestige abilities, and that means an AA reset. In years past, news of an AA reset has seen players scrambling to capture screenshots of their AA tabs or scribbling down notes about where you’ve spent points (and how many) on each tree.

This year, we have a better suggestion: Sit back, relax, and let EQ2U do the work for you!

On October 28-29th, Dethdlr wrote and ran a script to Backup the AAs of every followed character on EQ2U, plus every single level 90, 91, and 92 EQ2 character ever looked up on EQ2U. Since 96% of level 92 characters have been looked up on our site, you’re probably covered!

UPDATE: We did one better and have backed up EVERY character who has ever been looked up on EQ2U. That’s over 400,000 characters. Just look up your character on EQ2U, click the AAs tab, and then click “Look For My AA Backup @ EQ2U“. Read More

Where’s the Backup?

We’ve backed up over 150,000 character AAs, but it is certainly possible that we missed a few, so please check out your characters on EQ2U (you don’t even have to login) and click on the “(Autosaved)Pre-COE Spec” link near the bottom of the left sidebar. The first link takes you to our AA Backup page. If that doesn’t work, take the second link and you’ll be directed to Beetny’s AA Calculator with your AAs already filled in.

What If I Was Missed?

If it looks like we missed backing up your AAs, or you were wearing crafting or appearance gear when we grabbed your backup, don’t fret. You can click on “Add Beetny AA Spec“, type in a name and description on the next page, and make a backup of your AAs anytime you want. If you have never used this feature, it’s great if you want to juggle a Crafting spec, or Raiding vs. Solo spec.

EQ2U uses Character, Item, and Guild data which is published by Sony Online Entertainment. If you want to Opt-Out (hide) your characters, please check out our EQ2U Help page.

Keep in mind, if the character hasn’t logged in since GU63, you’ll probably need to save the spec yourself using the details Feldon mentioned above. I got a LOT of them saved, but it’s not ALL of them. Make sure yours is saved just in case.

Also, if you find one that doesn’t work and want the link removed, send us a comment with a link to the character on EQ2U.

@Madcat…this would require SoE to do work and something to really benefit the player, not the corporate wallet.

Thank you and nice job for this feature!!

You might as well ask why tons of things in games are done the way they are when the gamers who play them could come up with a better idea. It’s just the way things are. I try not to get worked up over game stuff even if i have 3 lvl 92 chars to redo if it is reset.

This sort of thing is the kind of thing game designers usually just decide is a “your problem as a player” thing.

Will this include the warder “AAs” for BLs? I lost them all when I beta copied my Beastie over …

@Brigh.Guk: Sorry, but I don’t think Beetny does warder AAs. 🙁

It is still stupid that they are making us do a full AA reset when prestige points are the only thing that need to be reset.

Thank you for your work. Now if SOE can stop resetting the AAs whenever an Expansion hits (As it seems like for me).

At least EQ2U gives us the opportunity to take screenshots of them out of game to help …

Hmm. 18 different beastlord warders. 5,848 beastlords level 90-92 have been looked up on EQ2U. If I get a chance, I’ll see what I can do. No promises though.

I haven’t played in so long my AAs are still not re-added from the last reset… I usually just log in once in a while to keep in the guilds I’m in and RP. My old raid toon hasn’t had a reason to raid in a year or so, and still wearing odus gear.

I wish SOE would go back to using those Card items you pick up at the mage tower, and flag all accounts for 1 free card to reset AAs for each individual tab, whenever they do a reset. That way we don’t have to reset if we don’t want to. It takes a good 15 minutes sometimes to re-add the points, and thats time we could be dungeon clearing. 😛

OK, when I did the math I saw that with all the beastlords with all the warders with all their points, that was a lot, Lot, LOT of data. Over 4 million points of data. Couple that with the fact that some of the lower level characters that weren’t being followed had not been backed up and I decided to do something about it.

Now, under the “(Autosaved)Pre-CoE Spec” link to Beetny, you’ll also see “(Autosaved)Pre-CoE Spec at EQ2U”. That will bring up the AA spec here at EQ2U for all 416,747 characters that have been looked up on EQ2U as of this morning. The link is there for every character whether they are backed up or not so make sure to check it if you’re not sure.
