280 AAs claim item with expansion

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), Expansion News

So for those folks behind on AAs, if you buy Chains of Eternity, you get an item you can claim 2 per account (not 1 per character) that if you are level 90 it dings you to 280AAs.

Some will complain. others will be happy that their friends or others are now where they should be. And some, like me, wont really care at all. And i had just spent half a week AA leveling a friend of mine.

    You can’t be serious…
SOE is going to just HAND people 280 AAs that a lot of us spend a long time grinding out. Yeah, people are going to complain. & they have every right to.

Aren’t there enough people that don’t know how to play their toons well?

Please explain to me how knowing how to play your toon well has anything to do with grinding 280AAs in Chelsith or KoS zones. Grinding AAs is a mark of endurance not skill.

there is no endurence when you get one AA every 3 min 😉

It’s more be dedicated to a game, something like invest effort for get a reward.

I still prefere bonus xp week end, at last we work a few for get reward.

IF they want do this, they should do it as signature quest, not just give it.

If you are following an SK who is pulling entire rooms in KoS zones, on a double xp weekend, with 5 level 90 alts giving veteran reward.

I found a blue duck, thus all ducks must be blue.

If people were still “playing the AA game” the way it was originally intended i.e. a way to keep advancing your character even when at the cap, I’d care. Since almost no one does chrono/mentor down and do older quests to get AA because just popping a 110% potion and going on a killing spree in Hole/Chelsith ist so much faster…I don’t. I wish it were so though…

I’m not sure why this is hard to understand. CoE (and acronym that used to mean Church of England to me) will be launching a new expansion which will be off-limits to some people who haven’t played in a while and maybe missed Skyshrine. This idea is to say “welcome back” to people who are returning to game and have a lot of catching up to do.

If it really worries you that much, add it to the list of things that you hate in EQ2 along with transport bells and TS combines which don’t need woad ink anymore, and grind your new toons up to 92/320 before the xpac launches.

Should be one per character, not two per account.
It’s unfortunate that some players think EQ2 is real life.

I would bet this will be on the marketplace soon with a nice pricetag. Personally I prefer to grind the AA on my toons, but I can see this handy if you were needed a new toon who is short of AA and is needed by your raid force. So I am 50/50 on this idea.

I have to agree with Flaming Homo (Damn I hated typing that). One per character is more in line with SOE’s intentions of giving just two per account. ESPECIALLY if that powerleveling crap actually goes live. Us two boxers are the victims of that decision. So I’m in favor of 1 per character but would add that you must be level 90 prior to accepting it and make that an unbendable rule.

Lets face it, alts keep this game alive.

Necessary move in my opinion. It was either this or remove the 280 AA barrier.

I have exactly -one- character that will need this, my poor neglected illusionist, who will use it to join…let me do the count here…my 6 level 92s and 2 post-280 90s in relevancy.

    So.

Well this was needed, the other way would have been to increase the AA gain while leveling up. Good Decision! This is an old game and they need to do whatever they can to retain players.

Makes sense to me, not to many and allows you to take a character that you have had and bring them up quick to play in the new areas. I like it!

Using that logic, will there then be tokens on each new char creation that allow you to ding 2 new toons to 92? Are people there taking tips on expansions from Disney’s Toon Town?

@Gaealiege, I have a half-dozen cap characters, two more eligible, a host of lowbie alts, raids, and oh yeah, that annoying thing called a ‘life’.

Kinda hard to prioritize parking in Chelsith for an evening for one alt.

More of a push for end of game content, thus pushing lowbie content out. Bad idea again SOE, The turds just keep getting flung at the players.

I like the idea for people who have multiple alts and need that little extra push to get them to 280 so they can continue. The only problem I see with it are the people who will abuse it by powerleveling characters to 90 with their AA slider set to 0%, and then use the item to get 280 free AA. Tell me that you don’t see that happening?

@trueflight – I do that now with alts.. I run them up to 90 and rip through AA grind in a good SS contested group.

I gotta say I’m more bothered by the “going to prestige points over AA” then anything. There goes that little extra thing to do of grinding AA at cap.

Well I will be looking forward to having an alt at the cap after this.

I have always focused on playing my main character (Inquisitor) to the best of my ability and not playing anything else.
Except when I am really board and than after a while I just end up gathering achievements on my main anyway. So I got about 2 accounts worth of alts that are lvl 65-88. with 120-220 aa’s.

I enjoyed alts when the game was around DoF KoS/EoF time when I could build a group and lvl in zones like Runnyeye, obelisk of lost souls, DFC, Sol eye, CT, Ruins of Varsoon, etc and have fun while playing my alt more casually and learn how to play it. of course the game was totally different back than.
Now it is all PL to 92/320aa and than learn how to play and hope you like it. If I were to learn how to play a lvl 50 SK it would be almost worthless to me at 92 (other than basic tank mechanics like turning mobs and stuff)

So I am glad there is a little bonus included in the expansion. I may actually finish one of my alts this time. lol

In response I would say you don’t have the time then to dedicate to that many characters, Anaogi, and therefore have no reason to receive a free handout to play on characters you do not have the time necessary to dedicate toward.

I believe we’ve been calling this process logic for years now.

2 per account I see as a penalty to the person who bought a bunch of slots and plays lots of alt.
Oops I left this comment under the wrong category my bad, so I pasted it here where I meant it to go.:

2 per account misses the opportunity to sell lots more exp and vitality potions to powerlevelers and people who won’t be level locking anymore to get aa before going to 90 and end game content, which seems to be what the game is selling.

2 per account perplexes the people with a stable of crafters who would level them.

where does the number 2 come from, someone’s hat?

/shrug Time I have, if I set it aside. Patience to spend it grinding for the one toon, rather than something more enjoyable, not so much. Please refrain from dictating to others how the game should be played; a more uptight individual might consider it highly disrespectful.

Besides, it’s only 2 per account. After that (and for more than a half-dozen previous, in my case) it’s on the player.

I’ve never seen a high end player dictate how another should play. I have seen casuals constantly demand that this game cater to the lowest common denominator which affects our gameplay though. Really annoying.

I don’t see any problem with this. What is the difference if someone sits in an instance and grinds mobs for hours or takes 5 seconds and drinks a potion? One way just takes more time than the other. For those players that enjoy sitting in an instance and repeatedly killing mobs.. don’t take the potion. It’s as simple as that. All the potion is doing is boosting that player to the point where they can continue to level past 90 a little bit faster. People have been asking for this type of thing on the forums for a while now.

You just can’t make some people happy. They gripe when they don’t have something, and then they gripe when they get it.\

As someone who has been playing for 4 years and, believe it or not, never reached max level, this appeals to me. I have a boxing team in the 50’s that I’m slow-leveling through the majority of content. Because, hard as it is to believe, I like experiencing all the quests and dungeons along the way. My first character is still only level 80 and only 100ish AA. The prospect of being spotted the AA might actually encourage me to move along.

at least shineys will drop in price as people wont bother buying them for AA anymore but do agree with it meaning that i have wasted my time in getting 320 AA the long way on all 11 of my 92/320 AAs as ive spend weeks in all in chelsith grinding my AAs :/

I like the idea — for most folks, they probably have one or two alts they are dreading doing the AA grind with, or you have new players that could use it to finish out a couple of characters quickly so they can raid or what have you.

It’s useful, but with only two per account, not too overpowered. It does cause you to make a choice on who to use it on, at least.

I like the idea. It simply allows for more variety and opportunity. I don’t decry how easy it is to level a crafter now in comparison to when 50 was level cap. Instead I enjoy the oppertunity to try something new, and not have to spend months to accomplish it. The opposing view that somehow this makes players ‘less’ because they didn’t put in the time is hollow for me. EQ2 has to change to continue relevancey, being able to adapt to change make better players.

Please enable purchase of TIER 1,2, &3 gear with STATION CASH or other means. The current method and required COIN for T3 gear is driving me away. I don’t have time to grind day in and day out of the dungeons to get a measly 20 or 60 coin per 10 minute session in order to build up to 3000 coin for each gear item.
