The Sleeper’s Tomb EQ2Wire Survey

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Commentary, Grouping, Raiding

Have you taken on the group or raid versions of the new Sleeper’s Tomb found in the Eastern Wastes? If so, why not take our Sleeper’s Tomb Survey below. If you have not yet run the zone, please come back and take the poll when you do. Results will be posted in a week or so depending on response rate.

UPDATE: There was a problem with the Survey Answers not matching up with the Survey Questions. I have RESET the Survey, so if you took it yesterday morning, please RE-TAKE the Survey! Thanks and I apologize for the inconvenience.

my toughts of the zone is that it is way to big and the monsters are scaled to big, it’s the scaling that is to big not amount of mobs. i really prefer raidzones that is sized enough that running through them don’t take time, i’d like mobs the mobs to not be larger then twice the hight of a barbarian.

I think some parts of the group and raid stuff is fine, but others is way over to top compared to the difficulty. the reword from the quest is a joke to me also.

The zones are ok, kinda short. But over all as an ex EQ1 player, one can’t help but be disappointed. The graphics are nice but the zone is dinky and in no way compares to the size and grandeur of the original zone. I eagerly awaited this zone and was let down.

You may want to specify heroic or heroic (challenge) in the survey, or at least ask an additional question.

The loot from the mobs in ST in easy mode I wouldn’t waste my time with because it’s so bad. Getting a grp that can activate the script and make it challenge and win has dropped some pretty decent gear for us. Not as good as hm drunder or pow but in slots you may not have upgraded pretty good and on par with SS me raid. Also the mount from the last named in challenge grp is nearly as good as the raid doz one, so certainly worth running for a shot at that…just wish my dice wouldn’t have failed me on it last night :p.

Already there are two conflicting comments about how big the raid zone should be. Some want it large, others small. From a raider standpoint the zone is not worth doing unless you are only able to complete Sky Shrine rate content, but unable to complete Challenge Mode Drunder or better. Rewards are slightly better than Sky Shrine, but not by much. If this zone were to have been introduced at the same time as SS I feel it would have been far more useful to people.

I know two of the mobs have CM versions, is there a script for every named in the zone?

Not really conflicting actually. The zone is too small, but the rooms in the dungeon are too large. That has been an issue for the Kael zones as well.

An example on the other side of the scale would be Stormhold. All the rooms and corridors are small, but the actual dungeon feels very large.

Zones like Runnyeye and Deathfist Citadel have proper scaling imo.

The zone is overall pretty well made and bug free. (hopefully the terrible lag was only on day one in raid zone)

I like the idea of dropping all the tradeskill items, and the fact that it is random, so people can’t all choose the most expensive one.

And there is always the mount (carrot on a stick =p ) to keep you going in even if the gear is not enough.

    @Lemilla
This zone was built to keep a dragon imprisoned, by other dragons. I too dislike all the HUGE zones but this zone has a reason to be large. imo
Runnyeye and DFC (two of my fav zones!) are built to house Goblins and Orcs which are more the size of a Player, a Dragon built structure shouldn’t be built to the scale of a humanoid one. (look at VP)

I think even if you used the same hollowed squared bland hallways with the same 128×128 res velious textures, ex-Classic EQ1 vets will still be disappointed. That’s because the glory of Scars Of Velious is heavily magnified by nostalgia. I highly doubt many of them played EQ1 in almost 7-10 years or visited those same old zones. It tends to just amplifies the foggy memories.

I’m a little mixed about the zone. Art style is fine, i enjoy the new specter and banshee models. The layout of the zone on the other hand is just a slightly modified version of ST’s first floor in EQ1, also Sleepers lair via teleport. Nothing great, and probably was done to appease the whiners who want it to be the exact same as EQ1.
