Here are the known issues we’ve seen or heard about so far with Age of Discovery/Game Update 62.
- Players with Mercenaries cannot be switched between Raid groups. If a player joins a Raid and their Mercenary gets split up into another group, that player will be unable to dismiss the Mercenary. The only solution is to entirely disband and reform the raid.
- The “Chardok” dungeon maker layout included in the Age of Discovery Collector’s Edition isn’t added to the Dungeon Maker layout choices.
- Trying to Assign Loot by Leader Only is difficult/impossible as the scrolling list of characters resets every time there is chat activity.
- Numerous issues with accounts being flagged as Silver or Bronze which were full EQ2 subscriptions. Contact Customer Service.
- Crashes while trying to load Timorous Deep during Updating Environment Man. The workaround is to delete 3 files with timorous in the filename.
- Crashes due to Shaders 3.0.
- Mentoring is not working on Nagafen or Vox.
From Isulith:
We’ve received word that mentoring on our PvP servers (Nagafen & Vox) is not currently working. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working hard to fix this as soon as possible.
- Numerous housing issues with players who had housing in Freeport suburbs who have been moved to the Jade Tiger Inn unable to get into their room.
- Pathing has gotten even worse with GU62. Three problems I’ve seen are being turned around 180 and facing away from the mob. The only fix is to move to a different location. The second is being right on top of the mob and getting Too Far Away. Finally, during Beta, I saw my Beastlord warder pet and the mob literally running back and forth trading places with each other trying to strike a hit.
- The Character Select screen is showing sometimes only 2 characters unlocked, only showing half of a person’s characters, or missing some of the servers.
- Many Housing Portals are missing from inside houses and guild halls.
From Isulith:
Due to some of the changes to the city of Freeport and consolidating the prestige home portals, some players have experienced issues with their housing portals disappearing. We will get this fixed in an upcoming hotfix, so be sure to stay tuned to the Update Notes section. Once this is fixed, all you will need to do is get a new portal from your door and re-place it. We greatly apologize for this inconvenience.
Fixed Issues
- The Beastlord quests available at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 are only available to Evil characters.
- Thrown Weapons (Pouches, Sheaths, Bandoliers) either only usable by Beastlords, or all Scouts except Beastlords.
- Inquisitor Epic Weapon subquest “The Saga of Vesva V’alear” couldn’t be completed due to a missing NPC in Scale Yard.
- Betrayal to Freeport cannot be completed.
- Alternate Advancement (AA) Mirrors Reset all your AAs when used.
- Players at Gold level (EQ2 Subscription) were not able to Claim Veteran Rewards.
- Purchasers of the Age of Discovery: Collector’s Edition are missing the Truespirit Cloak which was to be included.
- Guild Hall NPCs have all reverted to a single appearance/race and cannot be customized.
- Players entering Housing are finding an “Edit” button dead center on the screen. Pressing F10 and dragging it from the corner can move it to the side.
and an issue regarding all Summoner and Enchanter pets NOT generating agro or doing kinds of taunt, Maevianiu had this workaround and fix:
I just found a fix for this one and will push it out with an upcoming hotfix. It is caused by a pet trying to fight an encounter that is locked, he doesn’t generate aggro.
In the meantime you can go to your group options and turn off the solo auto encounter locking for a “for now” fix until we can get the real fix on live.
More as we have it…
Wow I wonder how bad it was 24 hours ago.
I checked the older post and it seems to me that soe removed the cape of the truespirit from the collector edition, but didn t we paid for it..?
Like I said – it will take SOE months to fix all the issues with this recent update.
Got a running tab of issues over on zam too, very similar to Feldon’s for the most part though: http://eq2.zam.com/story.html?story=28463
What I’m hearing is that I”m supposed to contact customer support if my characters are improperly locked, but trying to open a ticket just gets me the response that my subscription level doesn’t allow access to customer support. Awesome.
Ok, so for those who had an All Access account … you may be screwed. Some of those particular accounts did not cross over correctly, and are not working. It’s not very many, but apparently they are scrambling to find a work around to allow you to play EQ2, because you didn’t automatically go to gold membership.
Billing is trying various things, including banning my account to try to convert it over. Yes, I was a little surprised to hear that one.
They were very nice, but until they can get a work around, I am EQ2-less.
I have an issue with my log not logging at all. I’ve rebooted, restarted game, toggled log several times. no luck 🙁
Call customer service– they are open another two hours or so. They aren’t that busy, according to my guy on the phone, and he was in the office, so it’s not all outsourced. I was on hold probably 15 minutes before my call was answered.
All my characters are gone. : (
I can add one more to the list – people using Vista and UAC may find that permissions to their entire EQ2 folder are in conflict, causing the launcher to crash before they can zone-in. This is a thread on the support forums with a fix and it involves taking ownership of the folder again (there’s a link there on how to do this, not as easy as it sounds). Apparently Vista permissions issues you sorted out on your directory years ago aren’t being respected by the new launcher.
Also, RE missing characters, some people have all of their characters completely gone with only a prompt to create a new one appearing. This is happening to our main healer and he has been a regular subscriber for years.
so things r screwy but it plays the mercs r cheesy but im glad they unlocked my toons
I haven’t seen it posted anywhere but other people in chat say they have the same issue. Occasionally when fighting a group of mobs especially my toon will do a 180 and face away from the mob. When this happens all auto attack doesn’t hit. All my toons have auto face enabled but not auto turn camera. This happened today on both my dirge and ranger. I am fighting and then suddenly my toon instant turns facing away from target. I reflexively turn the toon back towards the mobs but this is a dps killer. They seem to have tweaked some patching or something…again. It’s frustrating as heck
I noticed in raid tonight that my toon was not auto facing the mob. Happened a few times I thought I was seeing things. lol
Yep the 180 pathing bug is an absolute farce.
Another issue we noticed during and before the raid. If you open a dropbox it gets reset everytime a new line in your chat window appears, causing you to have to open the dropbox again try to scroll down select the thing you want etc… created quite some curious moments during loot distribution in raid lol
Think i’m gonna head to my AA mirror though could use a free AA respec :p
Oh and another issue we had, although dunno if it’s due to expansion was that opening the trade window and then dragging an item in it didn’t work (only tried it with an raid item that was looted to the wrong toon). But dragging the item straight on the person did work.
I will never, for the life of me, figure out how systems seemingly unrelated to the features introduced or worked with get broken like this.
It’s almost like it’s either never tested, or the results of testing are disregarded… 🙄
I had nine characters (normal seven plus two extra slots purchased over the past year) on playable on Guk and purchased my tenth one last night to roll a Beastlord. At first things were OK, but upon logging back into the game after a break one of my toons became locked because it said I had reached my limit.
I’ve submitted a support ticket, so I am hopeful it will get ironed out. There are similar stories on the support board of other folks having the same problem — including one who purchased another slot like me yesterday.
/frowm
I had mine all functional yesterday, after some initial worry during the downtime. Even added a new slot with a LON card I’d held in reserve.
I guess we’ll see how it goes tonight then…
Anyone else notice that al objects paced in a guild hall, or house seem to highlight. with or without the edit mode on? this is minor but needs fixing.
Yup have the same issue Fievall
As for the headline that house portals are missing from houses and GH. I noticed in our GH that the only portals still in GHs are to housing not entered in freeport. My templars house portal is still in the GH but my bruiser and necro’s are not. same with our coercer, his are missing. I can’t get new portals to place as my UI will not let me access, enter, tour, visit,, or get a portal object. I can enter any of my houses and houses I am trustee to from GH portal but i can not visit anyone, buy a house in FP or get a portal object. All my houses in Qeynos and neriak work just fine.
First time I logged in yesterday, I had no toons and freaked, but after exiting and relaunching they were there thankfully. I usually dual box so I am having to use the work around from Dethdlr.
I am having the same issue as fievall also and the toon turning away from mob in a fight problem. Just got home from work so hopefully all of this is fixed. I also crash every time I try to look at an item in the market place in dressing room. My husband does not have this problem with profit UI
That “Updating Environment Map” issue for Timorous Deep has been around since at least February. I remember complaining about it on the forums and bug reporting it back then. I’ll have to try your fix and see if that helps.
The TD issue is very old, and deleting those files doesn’t help. It happens when you logged out near water anywhere in TD, and log back in during daytime.
Going to your desktop, finding and deleting those files, running the patcher to download those same files again, and then logging in takes long enough for the time to change from day to night. It looks fixed, but isn’t.
I still can’t claim veteran rewards on any of my characters, but that issue has apparently gone off the radar, it seems. :/
Another issue I got is I see mobs’name appearing from very far, as if the mobs had a huge aggro range (they don’t).
Makes it hard to tell when you’re about to aggro by being too close : on an adventurer toon, that can be ok (even if it’s bothersome), on a low level crafter walking around for rares, that’s a nightmare.
To Cyliena:
This is as Lemilla said an old issue: it’s been around since 2000 if you check the SOE official forum. I had MAJOR issues it two years ago. One fix that may get you back in is :-delete your clouds and inout caches from your EQ2 game directory. Scan all your files and try to log in on that toon again. Sometimes it fixes it sometimes not. There is a lot more about it here:

Good luck ^^
The Timorous Deep Crashes are really ticking me off. THis has been a bug for at least a month now.
Can the LP4 be put on the list? It’s horrible for multi-boxing at the moment. If you’re playing one account and decide to open the launcher to box another account, the original account will auto-close (if you have the password saved and it automatically logs into the original account). Also, if LP4 loses a connection and tries to reconnect, then it will disconnect the active account as well.
Also, please re-add “The Beastlord quests available at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 are only available to Evil characters”. They said they fixed it, but you can only get the quest. If the quest requires that you talk to an NPC during the quest, good players cannot get the update.
@Katzilla
The updating environment issue has been around since 2000? It sounds like it’s so bad it transcends games and goes back to EQ1. They really need to get that fixed.
@Lemilla: Logging out near water has nothing to do with it. Simply zoning into TD can trigger the bug, whether you camped there and logged back in, or used a Home Recall spell, or exited your house and/or guild hall. No matter how you log into TD and no matter where you are, this bug can occur. I’m frequently experiencing it on my toons, and the only time they are in TD is using a Home Recall (which drops them off right up top in the housing area) and zoning out of their homes or our guild hall. Nowhere near water.
Also, the fix is a minor workaround and it’s not permanent either. I’ve had to delete those same 3 files now every single day; the very next day, without fail, it comes back. I can zone in 5 times without a problem, then suddenly it hits. Or sometimes it hits on my very first visit to TD. It’s completely random.
I’d like to add that I have also *never* camped out in Timorous Deep, so camping in the zone is also not part of the problem.
when will eq2players return character data? Is it known?
Supposed to be this week.
thanks feldon:)
