Guess there goes our chances of getting anyone as a guest on Next Tuesday’s show. Why, of all times, did they pick the exact same time as EQ2’sDay airs live?

Due to our complete lack of interest in listening to what the beta testers have to say, and so our winter vacations don’t get interfered with, we will be launching AoD on November 30th, going with Plan X, which is to let all the live players test it out and figure out what’s wrong. Have fun! Due to the likelihood of problems with Plan X, we will be doing double exp and triple station cash for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, in between emergency patches.

Actually the “special announcement” thing reminds me of Tim Gunn coming in on Project Runway in the middle of the frantic sewing and announcing, “I have a special annoucement.” It’s never really all that good.

I predict a change in management structure. SOE seems ready to follow the Petronius pattern (yes I know its a mis-attribution) and give the illusion of progress by forming new teams.

    “Dear Community,
We’ve listen to you, to your desires, and understand that AoD is not what you were expecting as an Xpac. Therefore, we’d like to offer those features for free, as we did with all other GU.

Now that we understood that people are getting bored with this game because of the lack of new content and exploration feel that miss from all other MMO/RPG, we’ll introduce more open zones with more immersive quest for you to continue to explore the thrilling world of Norrath. Beside that, we’ll continue to create more gorgeous dungeons, large (and by large we mean enormous), with checkpoints to reach in order to let you continue your exploration later

Not to stay stuck with EQ1 storyline, we’ll be introducing brand new content, new continents, never seen and never explored before.

We’ll be learning from nice features we’ve already introduce to the game ton enhance them and make them alive again: Public Quests will be offering a token exchange system instead of a stupid random loot. And they’re going to become more dynamic and not starting at fix hours, which made them quickly very boring and predictable.

In order to give players an immersive experience, we’ll reintroduced class quests, each ten level, that will unlock never seen before spells! Those quest will have rich dialog, that will be implemented as movie scene. This will be the case for all major Quest, such as Signature Quests or Heritage Quests, Access Quests …

To make Cities Alive again, we’ve introduced a new day/night cycle for NPC’s live. Also, all mission givers (Daily, Domination, City Tasks …) are located in the Major Cities rather then in small camps.

Finally, our art team has worked very hard to bring you fresh new spell effects and animations, real new armor model FOR FREE (no SC required), a new flora system, new trees (SpeedTree tm), new sky boxes and reworked terrain textures in all zones. We intend to open up our world, to let you explore each square meter and discover it from an all new point of view.

This is just a few sneak peak to what you should be expecting in the next months.

    John Smed”

I don’t think they would call it a special announcement to change management … have they before?

I think AoD will be a bit sad. Looking at the stuff in beta I just dont like it. I wont go over any of that due to the NDA. I just cant imagine that being worth $40 let along $60 for CE. I am hoping they are firing SJ for the big announcement. Maybe letting the people know they will go back to listening to us and not just throwing broken crap out

    Special Announcement!

SJ says, “The preorders for the AoD are way down compared to any other expansion to date, this is due in part, to how badly we screwed up the DoV. Smed has asked me and the rest of the team working on EQ2 to host a special webcast in hopes of boosting revenue for our catastrophe pack!”

“catastrophe pack” haha! I like it, it has a quite a ring to it 🙂

I’m going to slide that one in to my language arsenal and use it for things that it can be applied to!

Hopefully, the special announcement is not the new patcher, since they already announced that on the forums today.

Taking a wild stab here, but I bet they will give us additional options to buy the expansi.. feature pack in chunks [unlock BL, unlock extra AA point, et al] via SC instead of just paying the full $40.
