SmokeJumper mentioned changes to the Veteran Rewards system at Fan Faire and touched on them further today on the EQ2 Forums:
I can’t get you a solid ETA yet, but yes, we’ll have a revamp coming. The design is outlined and we’re committed to the concept.
Basically, we’ll make a system by which you get a token or credit (or something) every day that you play (for subscribers, including Gold & Plat) and other metrics (for Silver & Bronze folks). Then we’ll create a category of things which are “veteran rewards” that all have costs associated with them. You can buy any of them after you accumulate enough credit.
There’s lots of fun stuff we can do with a system like this. That’s just the basics. It’s something we’ve needed to do for a while now and we’ll get to it as soon as we can after the big November release.
Naladini made a suggestion about spending StationCash on EQ2X:
Spend XX in SC, and it counts as an active month towards the point system.
SmokeJumper‘s response, along with mention of rewards for Testing content:
This is probable. We’ll probably also develop an incentive program for players that help us test features before release on Test-Copy. That would all tie into the same rewards system.
good news but probably wont see this implemented until 2012
I want some clarification on how this will impact druids? Ports taken from us!! Speed buffs taken from us! SO if I had to guess this will yet be another slap in the face to druids everywhere!!
As long as they don’t screw me out of my existing veteran rewards.
Ports were taken from druids? I must have missed that.
You have to purchase your ports now. It used to be you get the option to go get each port after you were level 25. Now you just buy a spell, and bam you have all the ports. Steamfont was the most annoying port to get solo at 25, outside of KJ.
I thought the veteran rewards were something to distinguish Live server players versus EQ2X players. Now they’re getting them too. SJ is full of shit.
What is there to be excited about this game anymore?
I’ve logged in a couple times over the past month and just sit there…cannot figure out something to do that keeps my interest anymore.
As we hear more details of future additions they become less and less appealing.
Some days I think maybe I have outgrown MMOs or the target market has shifted away from me.
Steve,
If you don’t want to run dungeons, don’t want to craft, don’t want to work on quests, don’t want to work on faction, don’t want to work on alts, then yes, you may have outgrown MMOs. I wonder sometimes why I do it, but I’ve got friends in-game so..
I know, it’s just become a token grind, or status grind. It’s become like a job. There’s no real adventure anymore.
Maybe I need to start doing more PUGs or something.
Forgot to mention faction grind.
Out of curiosity, what does veteran rewards have to do with druids?
