CSR Roulette for Unattuning Items Ends

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Itemization

Have you accidentally attuned a piece of armor, jewelry, or weapon to a character? On first thought, this might seem a perfectly reasonable Customer Service request to Unattune items and move them to desired characters. But, this is one of those innocent requests which is subject to abuse.

Recent unconfirmed boasting suggests that players have  successfully transferred attunable gear from one character to another via CSR requests. While the idea of transferring gear that’s no longer available (Those few T7 or T8 avatar items which are still valuable) is a tempting one, the thought that someone might be contacting multiple Customer Service reps at different hours of the day, plaing “CSR Roulette” to make an end-run around the Attuning mechanism is appalling.

But we have received reassurances that SOE Customer Service reps have had a policy for some time now to not honor such Unattune requests. In fact this is now posted in the Message of the Day:

If you are wondering, then, have a method to move attuned items from one character to another, you need only to look in an unlikely (and potentially exorbitantly expensive) location to find it:

In the upcoming Legends of Norrath expansion will be a loot card which “converts ATTUNED items into UNATTUNED items.” It’s unclear how many charges this item will be, or how big a hit your wallet will take to acquire such an item. Past Legends of Norrath cards have sold on unofficial dealer websites for over $100.

Update: This item gives 3 charges, meaning it can be used to Unattune 3 items.

LoN giving this item that people have been asking for in game for years is just plain a slap in the face. Where is the one for us players who do not like stupid card games? Why can’t we just play eq2? why must we be forced to do something we don’t want to do in order to get the gear and stuff that we want?

I would really like an answer from Smokeblower on that question…
maybe it will come in the form of a loot card too…

    just my 2 copper,

According to the description and screen shot of the examine screen the number of un-attuners you get is 3. Still stupid if you ask me, make it a cash shop item, you’d make tons from raiders, they seem to be good at nickle and diming us.

The only thing this will do is cause it to be way over priced (200+ probably) for the loot card.

If you are “just playing EQ2” you would not be asking for a device to un-attune an item. This is a slap in the face to the lore of the game.

Will be interesting to see if high end raid guilds ask their members to get this item to un-atune their avatar loot if they changed characters and put it on their current character.

Lucky guys who cheated the the CSR for all the time long and got away with it.

Attune is their for a reason. The unattune all itmes for all one time was ok.
Even if some raid guilds forbidden it for their members to transfer loot of the same Tier to their twink cause these would effekt dkp systems.

Giving unattune to SC would techical mean you could also remove the attune funktion.

Giving this function to LoN is bad, but just ridding the cash cow. If they giving these feature to SC after this would be prostitute the same cow.
