EverQuest II 10 Year Veteran Reward – Mercs!

Written by Feldon on . Posted in EQ2

We don’t know the classes, and we don’t know if they require Age of Discovery, but here’s a teaser of the ten-year veteran rewards for EverQuest II:

As we approach the anniversary of EverQuest II, this means a brand new Veterans Reward to say thank you to those who have been with us for so long! This year you’ll be able to grab your very own unique mercenary who will bring the might of justice or dominance of oppression to your next encounter!

EQ2Wire Note: Veteran reward time is calculated based on active account time, plus 90 days for each of these four expansions if you purchased them (Desert of Flames, Kingdom of Sky, Echoes of Faydwer, and Rise of Kunark).

Here is a sneak peek of what you can expect:

9 Year Vet Reward: 7 Item Unattuners and 50 Slot Veteran Display Case

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Uncategorized

Today, November 8th, is officially EverQuest II’s 8th birthday. After the celebrations, long-time players want to know what presents they can expect! Specifically, they want to know — Will the EQ2 team try to outdo past unique Veteran Rewards?

Last year’s 8 year item — Veteran Revival — provided a groupwide resurrect which was a bit slow to cast but has still saved more than a few groups and raids from the jaws of death. Earlier today we talked about Call of the Veteran, or which must be known internally as the “Item From Hell”. It was a unique item, and I use it almost every day, but it does tend to bug out from time-to-time.

So you may be wondering why are we talking about a 9 year Veteran Reward when the game is just 8 years old. It so happens that the first four expansions each granted 90 days of additional accrued game time. This practice concluded with the Rise of Kunark, meaning the first four expansions credit one full extra year.

So what is it already? Sheesh!

Veteran Revival Reward Dead in the Water?

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Grouping

On Saturday we reported that some players had started receiving their 8 Year Veteran Rewards. Of particular note in this collection of loot was an item called “Veteran Revival” that would allow you to revive your group once every 24 hours. However when players tried it, they immediately discovered that it only worked if you (the caster) were still alive, greatly reducing the value of the item.

SmokeJumper initially posted that the item was “being fixed”, however he later responded with this:

Sorry for the confusion, but the item is currently working as intended. It cannot be used while dead to rez your whole group because that would be far too unbalancing in raid situations.

When queried with this quote from a player:

You are aware that [Clerics] have an AA that rezes the entire group and works when dead? So it wouldn’t be “that game unbalancing”.

It’s worth pointing out that the Cleric AA is instant cast, revives the group with full health and power, and does not apply Revive Sickness. The Veteran Revival is on a 24 hour timer, revives the group with 20% health and power, and applies Revive Sickness.

With the near eternity of a 10 second cast time (especially if you have a slow casting debuff on, which many DoV bosses helpfully provide), plus interrupts, the chances that you’ll get your group resurrected with this item once the tank or healer has died is infinitesimal.

Eight Year Veteran Rewards Revealed — Group Rez, Flying Mount

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Grouping

A tip of the hat to Rixan of Antonia Bayle for bringing this to our attention. After hearing that there might or might not be an eight year vet reward at Fan Faire, it looks like we are getting a doozy of a set.

We’re talking a once-every-24-hours group resurrect (20% health and power), a 150% flying disc mount, a 110% XP potion, and an equippable illusion that adds a green glow around your eyes. You also get a “the Veteran” player title.

UPDATE: According to several sources, players will get a choice of several different 150% flying disc mounts. These are true flying mounts.

In-game item links if you want to check them out:

SmokeJumper Hints at Veteran Rewards System and Testing Rewards

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Cash, DGC Wants Feedback

SmokeJumper mentioned changes to the Veteran Rewards system at Fan Faire and touched on them further today on the EQ2 Forums:

I can’t get you a solid ETA yet, but yes, we’ll have a revamp coming. The design is outlined and we’re committed to the concept.

Basically, we’ll make a system by which you get a token or credit (or something) every day that you play (for subscribers, including Gold & Plat) and other metrics (for Silver & Bronze folks). Then we’ll create a category of things which are “veteran rewards” that all have costs associated with them. You can buy any of them after you accumulate enough credit.

There’s lots of fun stuff we can do with a system like this. That’s just the basics. It’s something we’ve needed to do for a while now and we’ll get to it as soon as we can after the big November release.

Naladini made a suggestion about spending StationCash on EQ2X:

Spend XX in SC, and it counts as an active month towards the point system.

SmokeJumper‘s response, along with mention of rewards for Testing content:

This is probable. We’ll probably also develop an incentive program for players that help us test features before release on Test-Copy. That would all tie into the same rewards system.

7-Year Veteran Reward: Mistmoore Crag Estate

Written by Dethdlr on . Posted in Art, Appearance, Housing, Game Updates & Maintenance

EQ2Players.com has a news item up announcing the new 7 year veteran reward, your very own Mistmoore Crag Estate!

It looks like it’s going to be quite impressive.  More pictures are available at EQ2Players.com.

There was quite an amusing thread with several devs posting screenshots and info over the past week about this new housing.  All of it false of course but pretty humerous.  Definately worth a read.  It includes comments like this from Haohmaru like this:

Hey all!

We’ve decided to give a sneak peek of the Mistmoore Crag Estate. After much deliberating and rock paper scissors, we decided on…

A Boat!

But, should we just do a boring old boat? Would that even be interesting? What else could we do to make it unique and unlike anything seen before? So then we got to thinking… and thinking… and then, EUREKA!

Ladies and Gents – I present to you, the Mistmoore Crag Estate. Your very own floating coffin. And yes, for those wondering, the lid does indeed close during the day locking you and your friends inside. TELL ME THAT DOESN”T ROCK!

Even includes screen shots of the coffin.   Kinda makes you wonder who spiked the coffee at SOE last week.  🙂
