Katanallama’s EQII Game Macros, ACT Triggers, and YOU!

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2, Grouping

For the last three years, Player Panels have added another perspective to the expected Developer-led panels at the annual Fan Faire SOE Live conventions. Last year, an EQ2 player named Katanallama presented a standing room only (including two EQ2 devs) panel which cracked the code of EQ2 Macros and Advanced Combat Tracker triggers. The concepts can go deep, but he presents it in a way that any EQ2 player can grasp. During the panel there was a ton of great information shared and useful questions asked and answered. This video has now been posted on Youtube. Katanallama also posted a information-rich forum thread that further extrapolates on the concepts shown in the panel.

I’m sorry that it took me a year to get this video edited, produced, and uploaded. It does take about 10 hours of effort to get more complex videos with slides and transitions done and posted. There’s still one to go — the EQ2 Hardcore Decorating panel.

I Like Big Bags And I Cannot Lie

If you have a powerful need for bigger EQ2 bags, there are now three ways to get them, two if you didn’t attend SOE Live this year.

  1. Claws of Veeshan (66 slot) backpack for attending SOE Live 2014
  2. [eq2u]Rallic Pack[/eq2u] (64 slot) — This bag requires a [eq2u]rallic pack pattern[/eq2u] which is a random drop from a Grimling Runner while working on the “Grim Runningtradeskill mission offered on Tuesdays in the Tranquil Sea.
  3. Naylie’s Nebulous Newsbag (66 slot) — Granted for completing the Guide-offered quest “Nebulous Newsies“. You must pickup this quest from a Guide (a volunteer player) somewhere in Norrath. Watch public channels including “Antonia_Bayle.Homeshow” and your local chat channels for sightings of this quest giver.

Episode #77 of EQ2 Talk podcast — What Happens in Vegas

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2

Wow has it been 3 weeks since SOE Live 2014? I’m hopelessly behind on getting all my post-con stuff done, but Dellmon and Osgz have saddled up and recorded another episode of the best (wait, isn’t it the only?) EQ2 podcast!

From EQ2Talk:

Episode #77 – What Happens in Vegas
recorded on Aug 30

Dellmon and Osgz’s lives are finally returning to normal after SOE Live 2014. With Dell’s on the ground experiences and Oz’s perspectives via Twitch, there is much to discuss. From zombie prom to tournament play to Fippy and a schwag bag, your EQ2 Talk hosts leave no con stone unturned. As if that wasn’t enough Dellmon wraps up this episode with Tales of Flight 778, Seat 4C.

EverQuest II Gets New Community Manager — Ry “Roshen” Schueller

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2

Forgive us if we have whiplash, as for the third time this year, EverQuest II has been assigned a new community manager.

From Maggie “Luperza” Krohn on the EQ2 Forums:

Norrathians,

We’ve had a short but sweet journey together. Although I’ve been a player in this community for a long time, it’s been wonderful being your Community Manager for the last few months.

I am proud of the contributions we have made together in this community, and remain inspired by the passion you all bring to the game with your feedback. We created a new web show series, EverQuest II Insider, that has provided everyone with a sneak peek into the Development Team’s side of the world, and I only foresee it growing further with the love and care of Roshen.

eq2insider-maggie-akil-kyle

Although he may be a troll at times, Roshen is a good chap, so please be kind and welcome him with open arms and /bows. He’s from a different version of Norrath, but I don’t think it’ll take him long to get familiar with our version, especially with the help of all of you wonderful people.

Feel free to keep in touch with me via Twitter or any of my other contact locations.

Thank you all for the great times and memories! I’ll miss you all!

Good hunting.

EQ2 ZAM: Transcripts of both EQ2 Q&A panels & Mechanics from SOE Live 2014

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Art, Appearance, Housing, Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2, Expansion News, Game Updates & Maintenance, Grouping, Itemization, PvP/BG/Proving Grounds, Raiding, Tradeskill

Because sleep is overrated, EQ2 fan Afista spent the weekend meticulously transcribing the two EverQuest II Q&A panels and has posted them on EQ2 ZAM. Also don’t miss the notes from the all-important Mechanics panel posted by Cyliena as linked below. I got a kick out of hanging out with both of them at SOE Live and seeing what they’re doing for the EQ2 community. I’m starting to feel like a bit of a slacker now… 😉

zam_eq2b

At SOE Live 2014, the community had questions and the devs had answers! ZAM was there to keep track of what everyone wanted to know. Afista has written a full recap of what happened during the Q&A following the EQ2 keynote, as well as the AMAA Sessions Part 1 & Part 2.

(also check out our Systems & Mechanics panel recap from last week!)

In the EverQuest II: Systems panel, the EverQuest II team talks about the upcoming expansion, specifically class balance, mechanics, some new features, and takes player questions. On the panel: Akil “Lyndro” Hooper, Kyle “Kander” Vallee, Michael “Xelgad” Ganz, Robert “Caith” Fouts, Dave “Maevianiu” Kish, Douglas “Endymion” VanDerveer, and Justin “Jamiss” Michael. We recorded this at SOE Live 2014 in Las Vegas and are happy to be able to share it.

There were some technical difficulties during the first 10 minutes of the EverQuest II: Altar of Malice keynote which was livestreamed from SOE Live last week.  Instead of clearly hearing the producer and designers of our game hyping their hard work, audiences at home mostly heard frustrated AV techs trying to get things working. Fortunately, we recorded the keynote in person and are now able to provide the complete event for those who missed it!

Press Embargo Drops Five Hours Prior to EQ2 Expansion Keynote

EQ2-AltarofMaliceFinal_wLGLOGO

Looks like Press gets a healthy headstart on posting expansion news for EverQuest and EverQuest II this year. After their private meetings with Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson and EQ2 Producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale on Tuesday, they’ve had time to draft their articles and now, they’re available for all to read. My issue is, people at home have more information than those at SOE Live who may not yet have read these articles. Some Press sites (notably excluding Massively and ZAM) get a full boat ride from SOE, paying for hotel and sometimes even airfare, dinners, etc.). EQ2Wire covers EverQuest II all 365 days a year, and we do it without VIP treatment.

Anyway, enough politics. On to the news! These are the sites we’ve found so far:

The totally kickass key art is at the top of the article. And now the bullet points:

  • Level 100 increase for Adventure, Tradeskill, and Guild levels.
  • 14 Dungeons
  • 6 Raids
  • 6 Advanced Solo Zones
  • 2 Contested Dungeons
  • 2 Massive Overland zones created with the new unbelievable Layout Editor. I’ve heard that the new zones are so stunning that players will hardly believe they are running in the EQ2 engine.
    • Tranquil Sea: composed of the devastated Isle of Refuge, Deathweave Isle, and the Pygmie-and-dinosaur-inhabited Island of Dichen
    • Phantom Sea: composed of the haunted forest of Kithicor, the trading company’s home base Highhold, and Grimshales, an island made from a shard of Luclin
  • 4 new Avatars

More after the jump…

EQ2Wire, Dragon’s Armory, EQ2 Raid Council Get-Together @ 5:00pm

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2, EQ2 Data & EQ2U

If you read EQ2Wire, can’t live without EQ2U, depend on Dragon’s Armory, or participate in the EQ2 Raid Council, come hang with us at Planet Dailies on Thursday afternoon at 4:00-pm-5:30pm before the Welcome Reception. DethdlrFeldonDedithKander, and Gninja will be in attendance.

Time moved to 5:00-6:15pm because I’m a noob!

We’ve updated our SOE Live Schedule App for Android, Windows phone, etc. It’s actually quite tricky to get the app to load its new data, as we designed it to not require an internet connection once it’s loaded. I suggest deleting the SOELive Daily app from your home screen and then visit http://dev.eq2wire.com/m/ on your phone and redo the “Add to Home Screen” step, you should get the new version. The correct version should show version 1.25 with update date of August 12, 2014.

Vendors and Parties at SOE Live This Year

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2

SOELive-sm

Ashlanne has posted a list of confirmed Vendors at SOE Live this year which may be of interest to attendees wanting to pick up swag for SOE or other similar genre games:

Here is the list:

  • The War of Memory Project
  • Shirts on Site
  • Silver Sun Systems LLC on behalf of MilitaryGamers.com
  • Gwydhar Enterprises
  • Sanford Brown College

Larry will be at Gencon this year. Due to Planet Hollywood’s busy schedule and our busy event schedule these 2 events unfortunately fell on the same weekend.
The SOE Store will also be set up with lots of stuff for purchase including items from J!NX.

Also, you may have heard, but this year, the number of options for Friday night has grown from the usual one (a Pool Party) to three:

  • SOE Zombie Prom Party – 8:00-11:30pm – The London Club
  • Zombies Can’t Swim (Ten Ton Hammer) – 7:00-11:30pm — PH Pleasure Pool
  • Game Room — The gaming area located on the Planet Hollywood Mezzanine will remain open until 11pm.

There have been some late additions to the schedule including an EQNext Lore panel. I’m currently in San Diego having way too much fun and will be heading to Vegas on Tuesday. Stay tuned to EQ2Wire!

SOE Live Attendees to Receive Limited Edition Loot Card

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire), EQ2

Amnerys has posted an announcement on the EQ2 forums about exclusive items which SOE Live attendees will receive. It’s being presented in a rather peculiar way as a “$35 Loot Card” but really, it’s just a way of allowing SOE attendees to get the in-game rewards on the account they want, plus we’ll be able to buy these loot cards for friends. For in-game item for EQ2 players is a 66-slot bag with a Tears of Veeshan appearance.

soe_live2014_66slotbag

No word on whether we’ll get the EQ and EQ2 expansions for going to Vegas this year. According to the letter sent out to premium SOE Live badge purchasers, the regular edition of the EQ and EQ2 expansions will be granted to our accounts.

The list of in-game items can be viewed here.

Updated for 2014! SOE Live Schedule Apps for iPhone, Android, Windows, Blackberry

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire)

SOE Live Schedule for iPhone/iPad

If you are an iPhone/iPad user and attending SOE Live, then you’ll want to head to the App Store to download Greg “Rothgar” Spence‘s SOE Live Schedule app.

soelive-mobileapp-greg

Greg developed this iOS app four years ago and, in his extremely limited spare time has maintained it every year for SOE Live. This year, Josh “Autenil” Kriegshauser chipped in to get it updated. The SOE Live schedule app has a “My Schedule” feature which lets you choose which panels should appear on your schedule, as well as tabs about Dining, News, and Travel.

SOE Live Schedule for Android, Windows Phone, Palm, Symbian, Blackberry by EQ2Wire

soelive-mobileapp-eq2w

Our own Dethdlr, Lead Programmer for EQ2U, saw the need for an Android app and stepped up to develop a web application which works on nearly all smartphones, even in airplane mode! Starting last year, the app also supports a “My Schedule” feature, allowing you to pick your panels and view them in a single page.

The EQ2Wire SOE Live Schedule “web app” is really just a skinned jQuery Mobile website using the same data as the official SOE Live app.

There is no app to “install”. Simply visit the EQ2Wire SOE Live Schedule website on your phone and then open the browser menu and choose Add a Bookmark to your Home Screen. This will add an icon to your phone’s home screen that lets you access the SOE Live schedule immediately.

Meanwhile, it looks like JiNX may have had babydolls in mind when they sized their women’s shirts for SOE Live as their women’s 2X this year is dwarfed by this year’s men’s XL:

Brasse is on the case and it looks like they’re going to reprint replacements without the miniscule dimensions:

SOE Live Mobile App

Finally, it looks like Josh “Autenil” Kriegshauser is working on updating Greg “Rothgar” Spence‘s SOE Live Schedule app for iPhone this year:

Don’t panic if you have Android, Windows Mobile, iOS, or even Blackberry as EQ2Wire will once again offer our own mobile webapp which works on all of these. We’ll be adding a warning to remind users to choose “Add to Home Screen” as otherwise your schedule will NOT be saved.

SOE Live 2014 Update – July 2, 2014

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Live (SOE Live/Fan Faire)

Linda “Brasse” Carlson has taken to Facebook to provide an update on some key points regarding this year’s SOE Live event in Las Vegas.

Confirmed: increased area of grand ballroom to accommodate 150 more Premium Passes. We will sell tickets online right up to event time (unless we sell out).

Confirmed: hotel has “increased nodes” in ballroom in an attempt to improve smart phone access – to be tested at the event! Initial tests by staff are positive, but huge numbers of people do weird things to cell reception.

Confirmed: Player Got Talent auditions to be accepted SOON – as in tomorrow. Start practising!

Confirmed: International attendees CAN participate in our awesome game tournaments this year!

Confirmed: EverQuest players lead the pack of 1542 people registered with 520 attendees, well in advance of second place EQII with 392.

Confirmed: Dead Carpet event, the Zombie Prom Party – we WILL have a zombie-themed drink special. I hope it does not contain gross lumpy or chunky bits.

Better Cell Phone Service?

no-cell-phone-reception-in-house-200x300 Last year’s cell phone reception on the show floor was absolutely atrocious, amounting to a media blackout. This was not just an inconvenience for attendees. It cut off diehard players, fansites, and media who were all trying to Blog, Tweet, and post on Facebook on the most important weekend of SOE’s year. We were preventing us from getting the word out about EQNext, Landmark, Planetside 2, and SOE’s other properties. We’re cautiously hopeful that are happy to see a mention that cell phone service may be improved this year.
