What is a Time Locked Expansion server?
A TLE server has a special ruleset which restricts content and allows players to revisit exciting adventures from previous eras of EverQuest II.  Every 12 weeks, content from the next expansion will unlock allowing progression through much of the original game content over time.

Who can play on a TLE server?
All Access Membership is required to create characters and play on the Fallen Gate server.

How will content unlocking work?
Every approximately 12 weeks, a new expansion and it associated content will unlock on the server.  Adventure packs such as the Fallen Dynasty will release 6 weeks into the applicable expansion.

General

  • The “All Hands on Deck” and “Nature’s Fury” incrementing buffs cast by many of the non-boss NPCs in Battle upon the High Seas and Battle for Felwithe now apply 5.0% strikethrough per increment.

Battle upon the High Seas

  • Corrected an issue that granted extra hit points to human Brokenskull pirate’s on the blue side.
  • The number of pirates answering Cap’n Ketch’s calls has been reduced.
  • Turbulent spirits (drakes) will no longer attack groups not engaged in combat.

 

FAMILIARS

  • Five new familiars are now available from different merchants around Norrath: Sarya Val’Sara, and Scribbleclaw in Obulus Frontier, Jasper Sodtiller in Kelethin, Naris T’Vaska in Neriak, Durbain in Thalumbra, and Far’Saethe Dom in the Proving Grounds lobby.
  • The Hordemother Vespid Familiar’s deaggro proc will no longer trigger on fighters in defensive stance.

Chamber of Rejuvenation [Raid]

  • If the Reet Ritualist gets removed from the encounter a warning message is now generated to avoid confusion.
  • When Massive Jawing is removed any debuff components applied by the spell are also removed.
  • Trakanon’s eyesight has been improved so he no longer attempt to kill already dead players and spam the raid with the message.
  • Players chosen for the specific challenges involved in the Trakanon encounter should more reliably be able to do damage to their respective targets.
  • Trakanon’s summoned challengers should no longer be permanently rooted.
  • Descriptions have been added to Fetid Cloud and Toxic Tempest.
  • Poison Spray should now grow in damage quicker.
  • Using teleport to target type spells or abilities on Trakanon should no longer result in teleporting under the world.
  • Adds in the Trakanon encounter have had their health rebalanced for recent buff package changes.

ABILITIES

  • Ulla’s Resolution will no longer heal hostile targets.
  • Most fighter threat snaps are now unresistable.
  • Corrected an issue with wards that allowed some ward types to reduce damage without losing ward amount.
  • Increased critical damage across the board for both Sorcerer classes by between 8% and 17%.

ITEMS

  • Enchanted Slobberjaw Eye may now be used from inventory.
  • Glomalin Divining Rod will now equip automatically when double clicked.
  • Prestigious Wand of Power no longer requires ammo.

Stormhold

  • Several of the red focus adornments available from Kal’Jeketh can now be added to additional equipment slots.

QUESTS

  • Toxxulian Flora collection pieces are now spelled correctly.

  • Interested adventurers should search within Obulus Frontier for clues on how to begin this new quest. Good hunting!

FAMILIARS

  • Experts in the mysterious menagerie have discovered a subspecies of creatures that have been found to increase the master’s ability to channel greater power.
  • You can access the Familiar window via a tab in your character UI.

PROVING GROUNDS

  • This update includes two new cooperative competition zones (Battle upon the High Seas and Battle for Felwithe) that allow groups of up to six to compete against each other in timed races to see who can complete the zones’ challenges first.
  • Only one zone is available at a time, and the fastest times for each round, currently set for seven days, will be recorded on a leader board accessible from within the Proving Grounds.
  • To keep things competitive, stats granted from gear are not added to the character in the Proving Grounds.
  • All heals and wards are percentage based while in the Proving Grounds, scaling off of spell tier and level.

First, on Tuesday, May 2nd we are launching the first of our Level 100 Co-opetition Challenges in the Proving Grounds! What the heck is “co-opetition”? Well…Cooperative Competition, of course!

In teams, you can compete side-by-side with other groups – and even sabotage their progress – as you mow through baddies so you can win! Why win? For new loot and bragging rights! We will start with one Co-opetition Challenge and switch it out with a new match type or layout periodically. Woot!

  • The number of adds in the Raenha, Sister of Remorse encounter should no longer grow for each successful threshold passed.

  • Deaths in the Raenha, Sister of Remorse encounter still affect add numbers.
  • Respawn speed on adds in the Raenha, Sister of Remorse encounter are no longer affected by reuse debuffs (in players’ favor).
  • All adds in the Raenha encounter now count toward the add count mechanic.

Kaesora: Xalgozian Stronghold [Solo, Heroic, Expert Heroic]

  • Over-General Vihgoh should no longer path into the walls when idle and not being attacked.

ITEMS

  • Monk and Bruiser TSO raid set 6-piece bonus (riposte chance) now stacks properly with their class focus effects.
  • Warlock TSO raid set 2-piece bonus now grants some additional damage to Apocalypse.
  • Several TSO tradeskill items that had a required level of 82 have been correctly set to level 80.
  • Several items in Kurn’s Tower have had their stats upgraded slightly to match items from Ward of Elements.

QUESTS

  • Vanishing Act – Damaging “a visage of fear” too quickly will no longer prevent the quest from updating.

TLE Vote: Unlock The Shadow Odyssey Mid-Expansion Content?

EverQuest II’s fifth expansion The Shadow Odyssey unlocked on the Stormhold [Time-Locked Expansion] server on January 12th. Now, players are being asked whether they want to see TSO’s post-expansion content unlocked.

Downtime notice from the EQ2 Forums:

All EverQuest II Servers will be brought offline on Thursday, January 19th, 2016 at 7:00AM PT (3 PM UTC) for an update. Estimated downtime is approximately two hours.

The EU EverQuest II Server will be brought offline on Thursday, January 19th, 2016 at 9:00PM PT for an update (Approx. 5:00 AM UTC January 20th). Estimated downtime is two hours.

UPDATE: Due to the occasional typo in past downtime announcements, we assumed that the notification above was a mistake and that US servers would come down at 7am PST while EU servers would come down at 9pm PST. We were wrong. All servers came down in the morning and no further update is required.

ABILITIES / ALTERNATE ADVANCEMENT

  • Fixed an issue with Ethershadow Assassin that was granting it two points of base damage per point of power spent.
  • Smoothed out the curve for obtaining Fabled and Mythical critical hits when crit chance is over 1000.
  • Spiritual Leadership may no longer critically apply.
  • Increased the base ward amount of Spiritual Leadership.

TRADESKILLS

  • The recipe for Blocker’s Bauble will now return the correct product.

Poll Results: The Shadow Odyssey Unlocks on Stormhold (TLE) January 12th

The vote is complete and 64% of the server voted to unlock the next expansion, The Shadow Odyssey. This content is scheduled to unlock on January 12th.

It seems this vote got a little help as the original rules indicate the vote shall be a supermajority of 2/3 or 66%.

Players will have the option to vote to unlock content every 30-days. The voting period will last a week, and it will take a majority vote of 2/3 (or more) of the server votes to unlock the next expansion.

The time-locked Stormhold server received the Rise of Kunark expansion in August 2016. Despite initial paranoia that the Race to Trakanon server would leapfrog it, Stormhold soundly beat Kunark content weeks before this was done on the race server. The first vote to unlock The Shadow Odyssey in October failed to pass. Now after five months, it looks like we can Avoid the Noid Void no longer.

Wrapping Up Race to Trakanon Server in January 2017

Hey all,

Don’t miss your last chance to finish up special rewards from The Race to Trakanon Event Server. This server is scheduled to close in January 2017.

Transfer tokens will go out to players on The Race to Trakanon server on Thursday, December 1 at (or around) noon PST. Players on this server can use this token to transfer to a server of their choice. If you do NOT use your transfer token before the server closes, your character will be moved to Stormhold.

Barring any major issues with the Kunark Ascending expansion release, we should have these 3 zones ready to go for Stormhold.

Meanwhile, we can report that as of yesterday, the guild Dread Army was the first to defeat Trakanon on the Race-to-Trakanon server. At one time, Race-to-Trakanon was seen as a threat to the existing Stormhold server, however good old Trakky was defeated there months ago. Word from Kander is that transfers off of Race to Trakanon  are tentatively set to begin in December, with the server closure slated for January.

BATTLEGROUNDS

  • Corrected an issue that allowed adornments to apply in Battlegrounds.
  • Many consumables have been reduced in power while in a Battleground match.
  • Increased the amount of tokens rewarded from the Battlegrounds Quests.
  • Battleground missions are now repeatable quests, and no longer subject to mission timers.

ABILITIES

  • Joust now has a range of 35

RadarX: Current Time-Locked Expansion and Race-to-Trakanon Itemization Won’t Be Fixed

Players on the subscription-required Race to Trakanon and Stormhold (Time Locked Expansion) servers have been requesting changes to itemization which would bring Heroic and Raid gear (specifically the iconic Mythical weapons that conclude the Kunark storyline) above the level of Solo and Crafted gear. We got an answer of sorts on that question today from RadarX on the EQ2 Forums:

You are taking a few liberties with this statement but to reiterate Kanders post and to ensure there aren’t concerns this hasn’t at least been communicated, there are no plans to do further itemization on current content. As with each expansion the team will work on what they feel is the most important and impacting gear but a complete overhaul is unfeasible.

While we can appreciate the concern and passion, but our next itemization focus will be on the next expansion.

Acquiring Mythical weapons and the defeat of Trakanon on the Race to Trakanon server seems designed to dovetail into this EverQuest II’s thirteenth expansion – Kunark Ascending — expected this November — which is rumored to include an Epic Weapon 2.0 questline.

Time-Locked Expansion Server Stormhold to Receive Rise of Kunark on August 16th

It looks like the Rise of Kunark expansion, which was up for its third unlock vote on the Stormhold server, has squeaked by with the exact percentage needed to unlock. If the vote had gone the other way, it would be a full three months before the next one. From the EQ2 Forums:

The results are in! The community has voted and it looks like everyone is ready to assail Chardok and conquer Karnor’s Castle! The Rise of Kunark expansion will launch at noon PT on August 16th.

The final results for those of you interested were 66% of participants voted to unlock the next expansion.
