The Haunted Mansion

There are three quests associated with the Haunted Mansion. This Won’t End Well… is repeatable once per year and begins in player city zones by speaking to Fraid Deekat (evil) or Skeer Deekat (good/exile). There Will Be Ghosts  is infinitely repeatable and triggers when you enter the mansion. They Won’t Miss It is non-repeatable and triggered from within the mansion.

Starting Locations

  • Gorowyn at the bottom of the city by the water at /loc 2573, 8, 1229
  • Haven at /loc -42, -69, -56
  • Kelethin at /loc 284, 106, 134
  • Neriak near the docks at /loc 17, 4, 327
  • New Halas near the center of the city at /loc -103, 147, -13
  • North Qeynos outside Sneed’s at /loc 288, -20, -51
  • West Freeport outside the bank at /loc 182, -4, -81

This Won’t End Well…

  1. Travel to the Loping Plains and head to Somborn Cemetery at /loc -430, 15, 65
  2. You will be knocked unconscious and the quest will update
  3. You wake up in a house and are told to ask around the village to find out what happened
  4. Speak to Proctor Eiolie at /loc -371, 14, 0.17, who sends you into the Haunted Mansion (see There Will Be Ghosts, below) next to him
  5. Once you’re done in the mansion, exit it to speak again to Proctor Eiolie to complete the quest

There Will Be Ghosts

  • Entrance Hall:
    • The first step someone takes in the house will trigger Timmy Rivers’ ghost, who heads up the stairs
    • Three vampires will spawn, kill them
    • Pick up the glowing key from behind a chair on the eastern side of the stairs at /loc -5, -1, -11
  • Music Room:
    • Go to the western side of the Entrance Hall and open the door
    • Tami Rivers’ ghost will yell at you and poof
    • Click the sheet of music on the piano
    • Three vampires will spawn, kill them
    • Pick up the glowing key from the bookshelf at /loc 23, -1, 7
  • Family Room:
    • Cross to the eastern side of the Entrance Hall and unlock the door
    • Grab the torch on the wall, by the door
    • Burn the coffins; each time you do, a vampire will spawn, so kill it
    • Once all coffins around the perimeter are burnt, you can open the final coffin
    • Click the coffin twice to force it open and loot the glowing key inside
  • Parent’s Bedroom:
    • Head up the main staircase and take the left fork
    • There will be a skeleton half-sticking out of the wall on the ground; walk through the wall here
    • Open the door at the end of the hall
    • Joanne Rivers’ ghost will yell at you and then poof
    • Take the perfume bottle on the vanity at /loc 33, 7, -29
    • Pick up the glowing key on the nightstand at /loc 24, 7, -22
    • Return to the hall and three vampires will spawn, kill them
  • Children’s Bedroom & Nursery:
    • Exit through the wall and head across the stairs, ascending to the third floor
    • Tami and Timmy’s bedroom is at the top of the staircase
    • Collect the boomerang on the bed at /loc -20, 20, 5
    • Collect the stuffed animal on the bed at /loc -23, 20, -4
    • Head down the hallway from Tami and Timmy’s room to the nursery
    • Collect the baby rattle at /loc -52, 19, 27
  • Meeting Sarkon:
    • Return to the Music Room and click on the tome at /loc 18, -0.34, -3
    • The tome is now in your inventory; right-click it by the piano to cast its spell
    • Sarkon D’Ryill spawns – you’ll have to fight him three times
      • In the Music Room by the piano, knock Sarkon down to half-health, and kill the swarm of bats add
      • In the Entrance Hall on the first staircase landing, repeat this process, and kill both bat swarms
      • In the center of the Family Room, repeat this yet again, and kill three bat swarms
    • Sarkon now flees through the dumb waiter on the Family Room wall into the basement… click on it to follow him
  • Basement:
    • Follow the corridor, killing groups of bats and the Protective Bat along the way
    • Sarkon is at the end standing in front of a mirror, kill him
    • Head over to the mirror until you see an object with a red outline begin to saunter toward you
    • Kill the doppleganger to automatically complete There Will Be Ghosts
  • Secret Library:
    • After the zone is cleared, head back upstairs through the dumb waiter
    • Go to the lower landing on the stairs and click the giant painting on the wall
    • Head up the revealed staircase
    • On the second shelf from the bottom there is a single, small book: Destroy All Vampires!
      • This grants the quest Lore and Legend: Vampire, but you cannot pick it up if you already have the quest
    • Sarkon has been known to show up here and say his piece

They Won’t Miss It

After your first completion of There Will Be Ghosts, a chest will be visible in the children’s bedroom behind the game table at -20, 19, 13. The quest immediately completes when you accept it. You have the choice between two appearance rewards: an Antonia mask or a Lucan mask. As it cannot be repeated, you only ever get to choose one per character.

11:40 am Pacific – Down. After about an hour of play on one character I logged to another and got dropped back to LOGIN. Okay. Attempt to Log in.. and LaunchPad shows an invalid login or password. Upon attempting to log to Support: “The system has encountered an error. Please come back and try again later.” The preceding is a statement of fact. The following is an opinion: Perhaps a warning of about a week..PLAINLY posted in several locations… followed by a week long FULL SHUT DOWN while the chaos ensues..instead of pretending everything is going fine, launching new expansions, asking for pre-order commitments from players, engaging in holiday events and moving offices all at the same time.. It is no wander (and this is a metaphor) that I cringe when you offer to change a light bulb: The house is falling down!

Cyliena, please would you consider putting up a table with this info? The Quest Tracker from Zam was an essential part of every EQ2 holiday for me

Oh yes, knew I was missing something. I’ll see if there’s a way we can get a printable of those event trackers over here. Since there were no new quests this year, last year’s NotD tracker on ZAM will still work for now. :)

A Nightmarish Illness is bugged. The “a grime covered hand holding a key” did not drop from the mobs in the 2nd graveyard, making this quest uncompletable for me.

I thought that happened to me once, and it turned out I missed “waking up” one of the zombies. Another time I accidentally let the key rot on the corpse. If anything, leaving and re-entering the zone should usually fix it.
