EQ2 Forums Still Dodgy After H1Z1 Launch

Six days after the paid Alpha test for H1Z1 began the various SOE forums (including EQ2) are still throwing numerous errors such as this one:

An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later.
<!– Host ‘lvs-msgw2.station.sony.com’ is blocked because of many connection errors; unblock with ‘mysqladmin flush-hosts’ –>

The error above indicates that Platform/Ops have set a rule on the MySQL server that blocks connections if a flood is detected. The problem is, they did not exclude or “white list” the forum server from this rule. In other words, the forums are literally blocking themselves when they get too busy. At this point, posting on the forums is an effort in frustration. Probably just as well, as the moderators are on a rampage these days.

Meanwhile, EQ2 players are reporting frustrating amounts of in-game lag.

Yes, but thank goodness: hzn1 or whatever has finally launched its alpha pay-to-access client. Thank goodness that that game is out. Because apparently that’s what’s important to SOE.

When have the moderators not been on a rampage? =P Maybe the moderators are going all Minority Report and stopping people before they post now? 😯

    ROFL at SOE

This happens when they launch a small type game what the heck happens when EQ Next finally arrives ??

I can answer that — Complete meltdown of the servers — HOWEVER

The question becomes who destroys there games 1st — them from total incompetence OR a hacker group who likes to screw with SOE and others every few weeks or so.

Now i got to be transparent and say at the moment i am NOT playing EQ2 but i hope to play EQNext so i do hope SOE get there head out of the rears before that happens.

Everyone still playing EQ2 or any SOE game Have fun ……..

It’s not really a ‘small type’ game. H1Z1 has been on the top ten selling games on Steam for over a week now.

Actually, that’s a mysql thing. When the mysql server gets too many connection drops or what not, it can block a client.. and the client gets that error message. I doubt SOE changed from the defaults, but it does look like they have internal network issues or that mysql server is getting hammered.

Yeah, that lag. Raid lag is painful now. (Raiding itself is excruciating at the moment, but that’s a rant for another time.)

    Stories from Forum Moderator Hell:

I got a 3 day temp ban for posting about a potential class revamp (this was about 4 months ago). Reason given….posting an exploit. True story…some times you just can’t make this sh$t up.
