As I am unable to access EQ2 for a while, can some kindly soul let me (and others) know if there is anything vaguely useful now available from the Loyalty Merchants?

At present, it’s either the dislodgers and the bags of Plat that are worth bothering with.

Well, thanks for that. Really helpful. Not. People are usually helpful on here, obviously not today though.

Luckily I can now check for myself.

Update: the 2 Loyalty Merchants sell a few new House Items, the ones you click on for temporary Buffs. Also – Purple Rune (i.e. for latest expac) Armour. I’ve had a quick look, and it seems to be better than the quested stuff, and says it’s each got 2/4 yellow gem slots filled. Cost 7 LT each piece.

the gear is 4-15 tokens each piece. And it does say 2/4 yellow slots filled but you can not use the yellow gems for cryptic gear on them.

You’re right – I just checked the merchant and they do have a lot of new stuff and my link does not have everything listed.

I would love to (and I probably should) blame it on the Zam site being outdated, but ultimately I should’ve checked therefore I have to take responsibility. Please accept my apology.

And yeah, the gear on there is pretty good. It’s the exact equivalent of cryptic armor with 2 yellow gems filled like you said. Not bad for gearing up an alt.

Can’t you pick what item you want from completing the daily quest now on test? They gearing up to go to a new gear set soon by making current gear easier to get? Not that I mind…

50 loyalty tokens to betray seems pretty harsh. I was thinking if it was 10 or 20 I might do it to save some time, but it takes 50 days to earn 50 tokens. (25 if you’re gold) Betraying is a pain, but not that much of one…

Considering you most likely won’t betray more than once a month, I think 50 is safe. The idea is for you to want to be gold, hence the once a month.

How often are you really betraying though? 50 isn’t so bad, I’ve got like 150+ sitting on my toon that I have not used.

It might take 25 days to get enough LT to betray through tokens but, here’s the thing, you can earn those tokens without stopping what you’re normally doing in order to run the betrayal quests.

If you don’t want to wait 25 days to earn the tokens you can still choose to do the questline.

seems that the gear on merchants cannot be upgraded with yello gemstones. How useless!

LOL, Betrayal takes all of an hour max to complete from start to finish. 50 Tokens is a bit much for something so easy. lol.

It’s probably just me, but I would love it if you could betray at will just like you change AA’s and prestige. Basically just cut the number of classes in half…

As for betraying taking an hour? It takes me longer than that just running back and forth from zone to zone. I usually betray to Neriak because I heard that was the easiest.

I’d love to know how to make it quicker and easier

betrayal is simple. First Betray to Halas or Gorowyn. Simple city switch. Second start betrayal. It is a hail quest so it is done in about 30 seconds. Now go to the quest line you want to build faction for. Freeport for Qeynos Faction, Qeynos for Freeport. In freeport do Extracting the Defector. Takes maybe 5 min max to do the quest. 5k faction each. Have to do it like 12 times. Faction up go to your new city and sign in. Total lime roughly an hour depending on zone loading speeds.

For Qeynos faction we usually pick the Captain’s Ring quest. I park my ‘zerker (mentored down) at the zone-in, as soon as the character betraying gets into the zone I pull us in. Run through into the back room, pop off Insolence which pulls pretty much everything, the betraying character runs upstairs and gets the update and zones us out. Usually everything’s dead before we zone out.

I would have preferred a very cheap betrayal item cost. Not because I hate the quest, but to facilitate swapping classes akin to swapping AA specs (I’m now a coercer instead of an illy now, etc.).

I could see 50 tokens for such an item with infinite charges, or I could see 2~5 tokens each… but this is just me imposing pricing on an item I would like to exist. 50 tokens may be very reasonable for a committed switch, but it is unreasonable for a temporary one.

That’s probably why they are 50 tokens. To make it a meaningful decision and not a “what do I feel like playing today” kind of item.

Indeed. We won’t see guardians/berserkers swapping classes for different zones, coercers/illusionists & wardens/furies swapping because someone couldn’t make it, DPS swapping on the fight, etc.

Which is both good and bad I suppose. Much less entertaining this way though.

Think I will stick to doing the betrayal quest 50 tokens is way too much, that is almost two months of loyalty tokens if not a gold member and almost a month as a gold member. I would lose around 1500 plat as a gold member in bags of plat to pay for this also.
