Dragon’s Armory V2 Enters Open Beta — Upgrade your Characters!
The Public Beta for the overhauled Dragon’s Armory has now begun! The new site has numerous improvements and features, from better font choices, the ability to link directly to a Character, and more importantly, a completely overhauled Upgrades page which lets you shop for item and adornment upgrades in a visual, meaningful way which always keeps you informed on how your stats will increase or decrease based on different item choices.

Dedith will also be presenting a talk at SOE Live 2013 from 2-3:00pm PDT alongside me (I’ll be talking about EQ2U). We’ll both be taking feedback — I know I’ll be asking about that Comic Sans font… We’ll also be recording an HD video of this panel in case you can’t be at SOE Live.

We at EQ2Wire have liked this site since Dedith first released the first beta version. However, until this latest beta release, it’s been impossible to link from a character on EQ2U to a character on Dragon’s Armory due to the chosen architecture. Once this beta version goes live, that will change. When that happens, we intend to link from our site to his so that everyone can benefit from the great work he has done.

And technically, it’s just not as well known… The same link mechanism in the new site (http://beta.dragonsarmory.com/character/$characterId) works in the old site (http://www.dragonsarmory.com/character/$characterId) by telling javascript to auto-load that character immediately at the landing page. Not as clean as it is in the beta, but workable.

Characters now have a direct link to The Dragon’s Armory. The link is right under the Beetny AA links on the main character page just above the headshot.

I visited Dragon’s Armory many times and it was working fine – however, this morning, my character won’t load. This is the regular site – the beta site seems to work just fine.
I use the latest Chrome on Win7, with Javascript enabled.

I could search, find my character and drag it to the top right, but then it just disapeared and nothing happened. Perhaps that is fixed, but there is a sql connection error now:

Try it now. Dedith just tweeted that he fixed a bug. What wasn’t working for me yesterday is working again today.

Yup – works now.
And I know this isn’t the Dragon’s Armory Support Site… but is it just me, or does everyone have to log in each and every time they visit? That “Remember Me” check box is just teasing me.

Try it out. The two sites complement each other. Dedith is doing crazy stuff with player stats and overcap calculations.
