Item Unattuners Come to the Marketplace!

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Cash

At long last, Item Unattuners have come to the Marketplace.

In 2010, these became available in a three-pack from an ultrarare Legends of Norrath loot card. Prices on trading websites were upwards of $100 for the opportunity to unattune three pieces of armor, weapons, or jewelry and pass it on to another character.

Then with the introduction of the Goblin Games last August, players could play the repetitious games (which were necessitated by anti-Gambling laws) for tokens which could be exchanged for individual gear unattuners.

Today, players are able to purchase these items directly from the Marketplace:

  • [eq2u]Item Unattuner[/eq2u] — 350SC
  • [eq2u]Item Unattuner Bundle[/eq2u] (7) — 1,960SC

Read more about the Item Unattuners, as well as Siren Plushies on EverQuest2.com.

Downside: The only cool thing in the 10-year vet reward is now available for sale.

@moose – it says 7 in parentheses, so I assume 7 in the bundle.

I’m really surprised that this is going so cheap considering you have to have a 10 year account to get them (or the ultra rare LON card). I’m not complaining, just surprised. Seems odd when a dislodger goes for 1k – maybe that will be the next item to go for sc?

They just renamed the Goblin Games unnatuner (gigglegibber gear gimlet iirc) and added a SC price to it, instead of just Golbin Gold, and seem to have set the price somewhat similarly to about the SC worth of the goblin golds when buying other items.

I’ve already bought 3, so I approve. Well, by ‘bought’ I mean paid a guildy in plat to gift them to me.

I’m surprised how low it is too, considering that to get it with goblin gold it would essentially cost you 1600SC to get a single one if you had poor luck at the games.

    Certainly not complaining though.

100sc would have been more appropriate.

25 cents (after triple SC and Walmart card)? Why not just make all gear tradeable?

What happens to adorns when you use one? If I have a fully adorned armor piece and unattune it, do all the adorns stay on the armor or maybe go into inventory?

All adorns stay on the piece as does any reforging you may have done to it.

7 pieces in the bundle, have purchased 2 so far and completely geared out a couple of alts.

People will always complain on things, heck I have complained myself on some of the thigns SOE has done, but this is a good move, and a smart one too. Peeps want to be able to pass on gear to alts and it helps them gear them up. SOE needs money to keep building our game. win/win

Eh, I just wish there was something better in the 9-year. I’ll probably wind up shelling for unattuners m’self, but the crap vet reward just sticks in my craw.

When was the last triple sc? I think they are gonna make those a bit more rare since they have accustomed people to using sc now…

Selling these in the market is so against the whole point of the marketplace…so unless you want to spend real money, you are at a disadvantage? I thought it was just cosmetic stuff that would never affect the game. What sell outs.

The triple SC usually happen right around Thanks Giving / Christmas in the United States.

    @ Yagyu
You could buy them with Goblin Gold also and that’s something earned Free (on paid accounts)

I don’t believe this is a game changing move. It doesn’t really effect anything but free up some in game plat and it might even bring the cost of SLR down a bit as less folks will be bidding on items for their alt armies either with dkp in raids or plat from SLR. With the recent changes to plat distribution it is a welcome change.

Those that say gearing folks up that don’t know how to play effects game play , well those folks are among us and they will join groups regardless of gear requirements so .. might as well at least gear them up and take away half the problem.

    @Yagyu

This does not change anything in the game other than being able to pass some old gear down to alts. So instead of scrapping the stuff to the vendor for some plat, you can pass it to another toon you might wanna play. You still have to get the gear in the first place.

Not all. It destroys no-trade adorns.

When unattuning a piece of jewelry with a green adorn, it will destroy the green adorn if it has become no-trade. I don’t know at what level the adorn turns no-trade.

I discovered this accidentally after it happened to 2 pieces with level 50 green adorns.

I have to admit, the comments here give me a bit of a chuckle. Now, I haven’t played EQ2 for a while, I like to still keep tabs on things and it’s interesting how deeply the remaining players have drunk deeply of the proverbial Station Cash Kool-Aid.

Wind back the clock a few years, and the uproar over this would have been epic. Players would have been marching in the virtual streets with their torches and pitchforks. Today, the response is “It’s about time they let me pay them $3.50 to flip a bitflag off on an item!”.

The long process of player re-education has completed successfully, I see. Well done, SOE.

The folks who strongly objected are long gone. What’s left are players trying to stick their fingers in the dam of monetization.

You can get them for free if you play the Goblin Games with your free tickets. Either you’ll get them as a prize or save up enough of the coins to trade for one. There is also a loot card in LON that awards a pack of 3.

It’s all in what you want. This is at least an alternative to the wait-and-see ways listed above. I agree with some others that the price is too high, though.
