On Beta: Coin Limit for EQ2 Bronze, Silver Players is Gone!

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Free-to-Play (EQ2X), Game Updates & Maintenance

This should help with Bronze and Silver players wanting to buy subscriptions via Krono. From the Beta Update Notes on the EQ2 Forums:

GENERAL
Memberships: There will no longer be coin limits on any account types.

UPDATE: For those who doubt this is really coming to the Live servers, Massively quoted the news and then the official SonyOnline account retweeted it.

YES! NOW! Broker is going to run out of the goodies! At least I can loot chests without having to have my box zone out.

A big thank you to Krono for finally getting this changed. Not being able to pay money to lift this restriction was a huge impediment to the non-subscription payment model.

This is a huge step in the right direction for free to play.

IMO the ONLY(and I mean only) restriction that needs removing from free to play, is the inability to use legendary.

I agree they need unlockers for fabled and bag space etc etc etc and all that.

@Karith: But if they stop restricting legendary gear, that just means that all new gear released will be fabled. That’s what DoV taught us. 😛

I reckon that’s a good idea. I haven’t used my free account for ages, but I was getting around the money limit by using the guild money.

This restriction was probably less stopping free to play from buying Krono, and more stopping them from selling them. I just don’t see many free to play players being able to afford 600+ plat for a krono. However, I do see the ones that buy mounts and other crap wanting to buy plat so they can get gear.

This is a good and a bad move, with this change its alot easier for Goldfarmer, because a f2p Account is enough for them now.

Wow, this is big. After my sub runs out in the spring, I can no longer afford to keep it. So glad that the coin limits were erased — having a poor character is just too close to real life for me. 😛

lol, Kronos are on the broker for 900+ plat on everfrost. Way more than they are worth. Smoke blew those way out of usefulness when he said charge high. Maybe when they drop in price they will be more appropriate and then the removing of the money limiter will help.

@kruzzzen 900 would be a nice price for our Server, on valor they are selling it beetwen 1500 @low times. Mostly beetwen 2000 and 3000p. We have only a few of them in Broker.

Complained about this very issue for other reasons on this weeks show. Trying to upgrade our guild hall on a Silver account. Could only have 13 plat on me at the time. It was a pain in the butt. Glad to see they fixed it.

Gourdon: “I just don’t see many free to play players being able to afford 600+ plat for a krono.”

I don’t see many gold members buying expensive stuff either on auction. The main reason i think bronze/silver do not have plat is because most don’t know they can save money in repair materials (point now moot). Regardless of what, the ones that will get Krono are the ones that farm, and Krono is a good investment to place money in = not everyone will buy em for the membership.

Kruzzen: “Kronos are on the broker for 900+ plat on everfrost.”

And how many of those sell? Check daily, only the cheap ones (700-900) sell, the ones for 1.6K plat are gonna remain on the broker in 4 billion years when the sun goes nova.

I’ve never paid more than 800 for a Krono and i’m set till August 2013. Yeah, sure, people CAN charge what they want, but we are free to boycott their insane prices and wait till someone who actually want to make some money put up a few on the broker.

Kronos not worth the money. the Gold subscription is on $14.99 why pay $3.00 more. Stupid in my opinion. Like throwing out money.
