Quickies: Sleeper’s Tomb Bonus Named, White Shards, and Beta Copies

Written by Feldon on . Posted in DGC Wants Feedback, Game Updates & Maintenance

Some players exploring the heroic version of the Sleeper’s Tomb will encounter a chance named “The Overseer”. But instead of dropping armor or weapons, he drops equally valuable Tradeskill Raid materials. As posted by Kander:

The Overseer is a bonus named, if you spawn him. He only drops TS components.

As to why the Sleeper’s Tomb does not reward white Velious shards, Kander again:

This instance is linked to the storylines for Chains of Eternity. It will not have shards from Velious. It is 500 or 600 years in the past.
Lots of other instances to run to get shards.

Beta Copy

Finally if you tried to get a character copied over to Beta in the few days before Sleeper’s Tomb opened, you probably ran into difficulties. Turns out, this is because the old /beta copy function, which feeds a copy of your character into an hourly “transfer queue”, has been retired in place of a nearly real time transfer. Now, when you /beta copy, your character will appear on Beta in about 10-15 seconds.

As posted by Terrogaunt:

Hey guys! Yesterday the new /beta functionality showed up on Test. I’m hoping to get some good testing on this before it shows up on live, so feel free to hop in game and /beta. Currently it’s not logging out all of the failure cases, so be sure to let me know when you have a bug.

If you have access to the beta server, you should see the character show up as soon as you’re able to wait the 20 seconds to camp out and log in again.

Note: houses are NOT going to be transfered over with you in the character copy

and:

[Broker data] is another thing that doesn’t get grabbed. Essentially, this is just a copy of the character instead of the character and everything attached. It makes the process of copying nearly instantaneous since it doens’t have to grab nearly as much information from the database.

What about guild data?

From what I’ve been told, we used to have issues in the past with invalid guild data once the individual character finished the transfer, so it’s safer to just strip off all guild data during the copy.

For now, the /beta copy tool does not allow you to copy a character that you have already copied. It used to just add an “x” to your name, but the new version doesn’t do this. So if you have a character already on Beta, delete it and then try again with /beta copy.

I’m generating names based on a known map of characters. If you’ve never logged in a particular character, it won’t know to append another x since that one hasn’t shown up in this valid character list. (which I’ll probably need to fix, really)

When it goes to attempt to create a new character, the name is already taken so it doesn’t make it. Go ahead and try logging in your character to see if it let’s you copy again.

Too bad about the shards… how hard would it have been to give us a quest in the future that asks us to explore the past with a white shard as a reward? I don’t understand why they omit incentives for their own new content?

That’s not the only problem Nojael.

Rallos Zek is dead, but you can still worship him as a deity and be endowed with miracles from him. Lore is broken.

I was just wondering about that today Vortix lol

And what was with the avatars titles. Sullon was ‘Avatar of Death’
Did I miss something or was her power ‘Rage’ and not ‘Death’. Missed the other two avatars.

Pestilence, Death, and Conquest … even though Pestilence and Conquest are the same horse.
