Zam: Dev Team TweetChat Q&A: The Official Responses

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Commentary

Today was the “EQ2 Dev Team TweetChat” which saw EQ2 developers respond to a number of questions posed via Twitter and Facebook. EQ2 Zam now has the transcript of this “developer chat” available. Admittedly, there are few revelations but it is always good to see developer communication.

Hmm I see they avoided answering anything of substance such as the direct shot across their bow I gave them aka. when the f*ck will they stop the fluff overload and fix the damm game and classes….but I was somewhat more polite.

Well, I’m sure most of us expected them to dodge the tough questions. I also don’t trust them to balance anything if none of them even bother raiding, how would they know how to fix raid compositions if none of them even raid.

Only good news is that they won’t invalidate PoW with the next update coming in a month, thank you for small miracles.

I would love to have had an actual “dev” chat, and not “half the replies from a very misinformed community manager & franchise producer”. (i’m sure Holly is a very nice person, but as a EQ2 CM, its new frontiers on the bottom of the rating scale)

It wasnt really a “chat” either. They were going to (slowly) live answer over twitter, questions that were posted on facebook… what? and (interject inside office jokes between SOE employees inbetween?)

It was closer to the read-only IRC channel “devchats” from the days of olde, but with the chaos of it being over twitter, but not really.

TBH I’m not suprised since its the same empty info they give us on the forums…when and if they give us anything. Except their if you corner one of them in my case Holly and simply ask wtf are the dev team gonna stop wasting time on fluff crap that does absolutely dick for the community that plays the game and fix the issues they have ignored or created…again I was bit more diplomatic but my answer was a 3 day forum ban for the mods standard of “trolling”….

So, nothing new about the P7S1 shit? Questions remain unanswered and we’re all kept in a mushroom state. Luvverly.

TBH at this stage of the game if management and the dev team actually decidied to start answering forum threads, questions, etc honestly I think the whole community would passout.

You’re crazy. Brenlo was an absolutely incompetent twit. I’m glad that clown is gone.

Brenlo started out in Customer Service and so believed in communicating with customers. The current people, not so much.

A bunch of useless fluff soft blow questions.

“Q9) Are the starter isles ever coming back? Is there any plan on turning them into dungeon maps or prestige homes?”

omg really. Is this really such a big deal? I mean its bad enough that they flood the forums with “bring back the island” threads. There is so much content right now that needs to be address that this should not be considered a relevant. Islands, really? *rolls eyes*

Overall result from answering this is that we’ll just see more whining about the islands not coming back. ffs.

Someone really asked that? I was just in Darathars Flight. Maybe someone should tell this person about it :)

Gaealiege – that should show you just how incompetent this arseholes are then.

Both times I talked with Brenlo at Dragon Con, unless he absolutely did not know the answer, he or another on his team would answer every single direct question asked of him about any of the games. With real answers, not these made up fluff answers that SOE customers have come to accept.

“Windstalker: @everquestii A10) We do have more Destiny of Velious content coming next year, yes. We are aiming for spring!”

Seriously? HOW much longer is it going to take to finish making an expansion that launched 2 years ago? I understand an expansion covering new content it coming but spring of next year is too long. They have two many irons in the fire as it is and they about to burn the whole ship down.

Holly just had/has no clue what’s going on, or at least it seemed as such from the chat. She argued with uberfuzzy and I about the teleport pads being on the city festival merchants now. I didn’t include the full exchange in the transcript on zam but it was definitely facepalm worthy.

While some people hated Brenlo, I really had no issue with him. He was very involved with his playerbase and actually gave the impression that he cared about the game and wasn’t simply a parrot for someone else.
