Introducing New and Recently Joined EQ2 Dev Team Members

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

In an encouraging post, EverQuest2.com today introduced five new and recently joined members of the EverQuest 2 development and design teams.

Abby “Ahma” Watt is perhaps best known for her work with the Data Feeds API which powers such sites as EQ2Players and EQ2U. She has now stepped into the role of EverQuest II’s Associate Producer.

Chris “Chrol” Garlick is an Associate Game Designer, so far filling whatever role has been needed in adding and polishing game content.

Kenneth “Terrogaunt” Roecks has quickly earned a name for himself by adding the oft-requested Auto-attack Setting, Quest Target icons which highlight quests which may be updated by slaying a certain enemy, and Quest Bauble buttons allowing players to activate quest items from their Quest Journal.

Kevin “Kuamilia” Bailey is a Junior Programmer (code monkey) working on bugs as well as bouncing between Customer Service and handling in-game Petitions.

Stephen Bokkes is new to the team working as a Senior Designer. From his bio “My primary focus is on storytelling—not just on the story itself, but also on the way we tell it”.

Terrogaunt for lead producer! He added two things players have been requested for years.

A very young team! (for the most part, Stephen looks a little older). Could be adding some fresh ideas and a little energy to the game. So we have a female producer and associate producer now, that’s nice, too, for the future of women in gaming.

But, I agree with Mindor, a complete shake up in personnel isn’t necessarily a good sign.

Anyone know what happened to all the old personnel, or are these not replacements and just additions?

What personnel do you think are missing?

You can look at videos and forum posts over the last year in the dev RSS feed and see who is on the EQ2 team.

I’ve had a feeling for years that EQ1 became Sony’s paid testing sandbox, and I’ve a suspicion that EQ2 will have the same fate. Used to test new things before taking them to better producing games, and to give new developers experience before moving them to the better producing games.

That’s not necessarily a BAD thing. It does make for a disjointed game experience in the long run though.

Kevin is a little hottie. When he burns out within a year I’ll hire him out as my pool boy.
