After the jump, EQ2 Subscriptions for StationCash come to an end, and what you need to know about Account and Server Transfers…

EQ2 Subscriptions from StationCash

This will also be the last weekend, at least for the foreseeable future, that you can fund your EverQuest 2 subscription with StationCash. As we reported last week, the ability to get a gold EQ2 subscription for at little as $1.25 a month, or entirely by Platinum was bound to come to an end, and that end is June 18th, 2012. You will still be able to buy 30-day EQ2 Subscription cards from retailers for $15.

From Piestro:

As previously mentioned, we plan to remove the ability to purchase EverQuest II Memberships with Station Cash.

We again apologize for any inconvenience caused when these were removed without warning last week.

As promised, we reinstated them to give those customers who wished to the opportunity to purchase.

On Monday 18th June, we will remove Station Cash Memberships while we assess the best way to move forward.

As always, we thank you for your feedback!

SOE President John Smedley also took a moment to express his thoughts on the situation:

folks – I really feel like we’re in a classic rock/hard place situation on this. At the last minute the team asked me if I wanted to leave it up a few extra days during the sale. Things are put on sale all the time. I feel like we did the wrong thing by not messaging that we were taking it down far enough ahead of time so I had us leave it up. We don’t always message when we are going to be having sales. This is no different.

If any of you really feel like you’re being treated unfairly please contact CS and I will have them help. I really do feel like there is no winning on something like this. Had we not left it up there would have been frustration about that too. Just trying to make up for the earlier poor communication. Nothing more.

A Word About Server and Account Transfers

If you choose to fund your EQ2 Subscription with StationCash, note that you are buying a non-recurring subscription (no credit card on file). Accounts on a non-recurring subscription will not see Character Transfer tokens on the Marketplace. Instead, you must petition Customer Service and may be asked to temporarily sign up for a Recurring Subscription before they will do the transfer.

From the EQ2 Character Transfer FAQ:

  • Your account must currently be:
    • In an active (recurring) state for 7 consecutive days. Recurring billing can only be set up with a credit card, so subscriptions paid with Station Cash will not meet this requirement.
    • At least 60 days old (paid subscriptions)
    • For characters moving to another account: The destination account must match all features, expansions, character race packs etc.

Of course I would use all my remaining SC on a sub when they reinstated them to the marketplace, only to have a half off sale a week later. Oh well.

Word is they’re doing refunds for exactly those cases.

Good god, it’s like you can see their IQs dropping each day. And here I thought SOE was learning from their mistakes!

pretty good marketing really, in a FUD way. Take away subs on SC, create panic, reinstate subs for “one last week” get people to panic buy subs then put on a sale for SC at the point of highest demand.

Of course it also bears the mark of a desperate cash poor company. But what the hell those of us that were going to leave have.

If I bought a 1 year subscription last month (so I am 11 months in), and I buy another 1 year, will they extend my account for 1 year +11 months?

I get that non-recurring subscribers won’t see the Character Transfers, but I’ve been a Station Pass member since they’ve started Station pass (back when it was 29.99 a month), I DO have a credit card on file . . . why, on God’s green Earth can they not make it so I can see the character transfer tokens?

It seems the people that pay MORE (granted for ALL their games, but I only dabble in DCUO and play EQ1 on old characters to just to remind me why I switch to EQ2) get less . . . Heck, I really need to check and see if I”m getting the 500 SC bonus or not.
