Game Update 63: Skyshrine Pushed to April 18th for EU Servers

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance, International

From Piestro on the EQ2 Forums:

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 5 AM London Time the Splitpaw server will come down for Game Update 63: Skyshrine. Expected downtime is approximately 5 hours.

We haven’t heard of “London Time”, and we’re not sure why only the Splitpaw server is mentioned. Maybe Piestro meant to say:

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 5:00 British Summer Time (6:00 Central Europe Time) the Splitpaw, Storms, and Valor servers will come down for Game Update 63: Skyshrine. Expected downtime is approximately 5 hours. We apologize for patching the European servers nearly a full day after U.S. servers have been updated. We haven’t sussed out how to do simultaneous updates (or communicate patch times) during the first 62 patches, so you don’t expect it for the 63rd.

they talk only about splitpaw, and announced ingame a server down for tomorrow, but with only 2 hours downtime. I assume german speaking server are not a part of this update.

Piestro only talks of “green lights” for English version. So April 18th is sure for Splitpaw, but we may have serious doubts for other EU servers. Wait and See…

Could get really cynical here and say I wonder if Pro 7 Sat have heard of UK or London or BST?? If so maybe they should tell SOE about it…us….nah wont happen will it??

Oh sorry for changing the subject again lovely new GU so we don’t need to tell the EU player base WTF is going on and assure us that Pro 7 is a good thing for us any more do we??

    Oops did it again.
Before the new GU was announced about 60% of my EU friends had already left the game. SOOOO sorry if I don’t get overly excited about it. Will be full of bugs and unplayable anyway for the first 10 days. /Shrug so why bother???

@Melpheos/Someone/Feldon many a true word said in jest, sadly :((

Hey I just thought of something…

Guy or girl or “insert gender” from US arrangers to meet “insert gender” from UK at 12 mid day. US time- I will got for PST for the same of the argument since you have too many of the damn things… LOL

Insert gender” in US lives approx 30 min away from venue so must leave home around 10 mins before start to get there with enough time to be there get all they need and be in the hotel bar- stirp joint…”insert venue” on time including their journey time.

Insert gender from UK must leave at least 8 hours before and add on at least one hour for delays and at least another hour to allow for local traffic congestion issues.

Therefore person from UK NEEDS to arrive with all they need data baggage passport-etc etc at least 12 hours before the person in the US.

Therefore person from UK travels the day BEFORE and then arrives almost 12 hours before the person from the US but the venue is closed. So person spends a night knowing that they have all they need and that there is no point even going to the bar/club join (insert venue) unless they actually want to.

There will be nobody there yet, they assume but at least they can get the lie of the land and maybe spot any potential problems BEFORE the event starts to the organisers of the event like ….
“Hey hang on you screwed up you said place could accommodate 1000 people there are 100 here right now and no bar staff and there is a huge queue
( call it LAG) if you want to.

Electrons are on or off. (okay not strictly true as you have positrons and all the exotics that cant make their minds up what they are yet….so stay with it for the sake of argument.
People however, are on, off somewhere in between: happy or sad or both and or occasionally in an intermediate state which depends entirely if they are being watched or not (Qauntum Cat in the Box effect …go look it up.) Alive dead and just plain p1ssed off are the usual states of a cat in a box….

So just how hard is it to send out an update with 0 and 1′ s in a ceratin sequence so that EU and US are able to get in game at the same time??

And we said we would not split the community…. except when it suits of course…. OK will shut up now and go play Vanguard…

are they just incompetent? may be I should just tell some of the UK banks I support, ops sry got the day wrong can you wait 24 hrs? Oh and BTW I’ll stream the new s/w and also sell it all to Pro 7 Sat for good measure. Dear oh dear you must be desperate for the EU to bugger off somewhere else.

Sony obviously doesn’t even know what day of the week it is, we can’t still expect them to understand time zones. If they manage to work out “London time” then sobeit, we can translate that to CET, etc., ourselves.

Weren’t server patches done at the same time at one point? But they happened to be during Euro prime time hours and the server population asked for it to be changed?

GU’s or game updates were usually done at the regular local patchtimes (i.e. 5am/6am CET, 10pm PST previous day, for Splitpaw, Storms and Valor). Even though this is called GU63 and falls into that category of patchtime, it is also the second half of the expansion. And expansions were traditionally done simultaneously on all servers, US and EU.

major content patches aka. expansions, like skyshrine, used to be deployed at the very same time on all servers, since kingdom of sky. before that, us servers used to have a day headstart, or so. f.i. splitpaw saga was installed 2 days later.
