In Brief: SC Items in Guild Halls, SC Gifting Disabled, Mounts, Servers

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Daybreak Cash

This week, after seeing an alarming uptick in the amount of StationCash being sold in-game in exchange for Plat from shady inviduals, the Gifting of StationCash was disabled. SmokeJumper:

Stopping the use of Gifting for piracy purposes was one of the reasons we shut it off. Piracy = bad. People using our game to launder stolen money = worse. So it’s shut down until we can fix it. We’ll get it back online soon.

A few players have found the 130% runspeed of all mounts even the 1 silver 75 copper horse to be excessive and some players have even reported dizziness or increased falls in difficult-to-navigate areas. Even I have found the Glider mount (the Komodo) to be exceptionally difficult to control due to the high speed turning.

SmokeJumper on Glider mount turning speed:

I tend to agree…but like I said, that stuff can be tweaked fairly easily. This got tuned up late because the version before that was way too slow to turn. Very frustrating. We can work on it further.

Plus, we have some interesting options to unlock later on for these mounts also. But that would be telling…

SmokeJumper on the 130% across-the-board speed:

We think we have a fix for you. More soon. Checking on a couple things first.

SmokeJumper about more mount options:

Fan Faire tomorrow. We start to reveal stuff in the keynote. Much more detail the next day at the panels though.

Can you tell I’m looking forward to it? We’ve been keeping quiet on some stuff for quite some time now. Should be fun.

More leapers/gliders are coming. The Komodo was just the first. We’ll trickle them out over time.

The inability to place the new Casino marketplace items in Guild Halls touched a nerve and brought up the issue again about being unable to place nearly all furniture in guild halls. SmokeJumper:

Guild hall objects would be cool. Absolutely agree.

We still need to agree on a firm set of easy to understand rules about ownership and then implement them into code.

We’re very busy right now (you’ll see why at Fan Faire) but this is one of those things we’d like to squeeze in along the way. We’ll see.

Simple fix. Require that the toon be X level before it can gift. We all know the disreputable peeps won’t take the time to level up. LOL

The mounts don’t feel fast at all to me… I guess these people can’t play shooters.

Even simpler fix, require that players have 12 months of subs behind them before they can gift, I guess that would sort out short term accounts.

As for the mount speeds, personally I think they should have pushed it to test first and gotten some people’s impressions on it and perhaps done some adjustments.

I’d have gone a little more cautious on the speeds, perhaps 170% on leaping and 90-100% on riding – tricky though, I can understand why they wanted them in the game so early since they are a very novel and new idea.

Actaully I wonder if they should have modified the flying mounts – go faster higher up and slower at ground level, that would have left more room for other mounts to “compete” against them at.

And flying mounts should be slow running.

If the Glider turning speed can be tweaked “fairly easily”, why wasn’t it down shortly after it came out? I’ve seen more mundane fixes get implemented in two days. Simple early fix: halfway between current setting and turning speed of flying mount; then keep adjusting.
