From SOE’s Facebook page as of 4pm PDT (5 minutes ago):

Regrettably SOE services are still offline and will remain so the rest of the day. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue and appreciate your patience.

    I kind of guessed this, while I would not be surprised too if SOE had staff in all weekend too seeing the seriousness of things I’m not counting on EQ2 being up before Tuesday myself.

    Seriously getting withdrawal symptoms!

    Dear EQ2;
    WoW sucks but it’s looking better than a “sorry not today” post….

    I am beginning to wonder how many people just won’t come back. After the horrific lag issues in Raids on Unrest I’m wondering if I will even go back. I DO like the game, I just don’t like having it dangled in front of me and then made inaccessible by terrible server hardware and issues like this. (The unrest servers were even crashing hideously before all these shenanigans.)

    Meanwhile, they are still billing cards for play time. Wonder if they’ll refund that for the players who wanted to cancel and couldn’t due to the system being down…

    Then go play WOW , ya not today post sucks but rather it be fixed this time around and im sure more attention will be addressed for security not just for soe but im sure all mmo’s are looking at themselves now as well. Hate the hackers not the game, or go to WOW and should they get hacked well no loss there.

    Why couldn’t they just have hacked WoW, or XBox Live. Probably more credit card info and more personal info on those than on PSN or SOE.

    We all must be calm and wait Im sure SoE wants to get up and running asap too because everyday they are down they are losing alot of money , threats to play WoW and other games are just silly we all know nothing compares to the quality of EQ2, thats why we’ve played so many years. We are all victims of some hackers plot if we should be mad at anyone it should be the hackers not the providers of the game we love so much.

    @Krittery. WoW has better security. The only reasone THIS happaened was cos of an oversight on Sony’s choice of servers and upgrades.

    I’ve said it before I’ll say it again…
    SOE? 2nd level of account sign in. i.e. Blizzard’s authenticator system.
    Spend money now = save you money tomorrow.

    OMG Soe said f*ck our customers ? Stanks got better info then the rest of us i guess the inside track…Guess Stank is stinkin since he/she hasnt been in the eq2 wire chat since the collapse of our beloved game. They have tried to to keep everyone up to date as they get the info, and if you…. havent spent much time there which shows…

    Eq wire has been one of the best keep us gamers upto date forums ive found but maybe ive missed the better f*ck all soe one. Either way it happened some of us seem to be havin worse withdrawls then others. Hopefully you dont kill yourself over not being able to play a game and have your family sue SOE for the lack of life it seems you lack. And yes im suffering from withdrawls as well but beer, sunlight and getting out of the house seems to have helped { for me anyways} to all have a good weekend looks like more beer and sunlight for all : }

    Midevil, it was a joke that eq2wire was getting slow, so hop off their dick. Way to fail trolling, real life card for the loss. oh yes, an mention beer makes us cool, cause thats what I’ve seen all around me in my 13 years of barhopping, winners, absolute winners.

    They are going to lose a lot of customers. All this down time will result in one of four outcomes:

    1. People will realize a world exists outside and games don’t matter that much, never to return to SOE.
    2. Out of boredom, people will start to play other games, find a new one they like, sub to it, and never return to SOE.
    3. After withdrawal symptoms have passed, people will discover they don’t crave their SOE game of choice anymore and will go find other entertainment/addictions, never to return to SOE.
    4. Wait it out, and return to SOE.
