Podcasts to Address SOE Outage, Former EQ2 Duo to Talk Rift

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Uncategorized

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Jethal Silverwing Show and EQ2’s Day podcasts are expected to run on-schedule tonight and should no doubt bring to bear some interesting discussion about the latest turn of events at SOE causing what could be a protracted downtime for EQ2 and related games.

EQ2’s Day seems to be at 4pm-6pm Pacific (this could be clearer on the website), with Jethal’s show starting at 7pm. Last night’s Down Range already tackled the security compromises and you can listen to that podcast as well. These podcasts are hosted at OnlineGamingRadio.

Also, although it was drowned out by two other major news stories (one being the SOE compromise), the other surprising news tip was that OnlineGamingRadio will be launching a new Podcast with  Christine “Kiara” Renzetti and Alan “Brenlo” Crosby formerly EQ2 Community Manager and EQ2 Senior Producer, covering competing MMO “Rift” by Trion Studios.

Incidentally, EQ2Talk is an independent biweekly podcast by Dellmon and Aliscious. They’re not scheduled to do a program this week, but if this changes, we’ll be sure to announce that as well.

Alan “Brenlo” Crosby doing a Rift podcast, colour me intrigued, I wondered where he had gone to, although I wonder if his new nickname will be “Judas” 😉

Seriously though, does anyone have any information on what his job is there, does he have an official link with Trion?

The gushing praise surely has some sort of connection, either that or he has an axe to grind, even its fans and own advertising do not claim it has anything revolutionary.

Kiana and Brenlo going to Rift? Glad I quit that game! I remember Kiara was only good for closing forum threads and Brenlo didn’t impress me much either.

Rift is a pretty sweet game if you dont mind the graphics for your max lvl epic weapon being exactly the same as for a lvl 1 rusty sword. :/

@1: Crosby hasn’t been able to obtain employment with any game company, as far as I know.

@2: They’re going to OnlineGamingRadio, not Trion.

They’re not employed by OGR. OGR doesn’t employ anyone as far as I know.

Kiara left SOE last summer of her own volition. Brenlo has a great job at Disney these days.

And anyone who thinks Kiara over-moderated the EQ2 forums clearly never tried to post there under Grimwell and Gnobrin.

@Feldon Exactly. I really don’t know why so many people talk trash about Kiara. Anyone who has been around since the start of the game know how bad it use to be. EQ2 Flames came about from the fact that you couldn’t post on the eq2 forums without it being deleted.

@Feldon: Right. Crosby is not working at a game company. He’s working as an entertainment systems manager at Disneyland in Anaheim.

I wouldn’t read too much into it.

We’re not affiliated with Trion at all. We just really love their product.

The rest of it is really none of anyone’s business 🙂

Oh and thanks for reminding me that I hadn’t updated my Linkedin profile. I always forget about that site.

    Cheers all.

Well i will admit that this outage has pushed me to to playing another game the first 2 days i installed a bunch of free trials and free 2 play games. Wow just looked lame logged in goofed of a few mins deleted, logged in Rift messed around a few there realized its WOW with a better class tree but the game is identical, So i logged into my Old Runes of magic and played that for 4-5 hours, then installed Vindictus turns out to be a Very sweet game, Been playing it every since. Now that i have about 10 hours of playtime in it im considering very hard to cancel my eq account and wave goodbye to sony, sad to say, especially since i have been a faithfull eq1 player for 8yrs and eq2 player for 5 years.

To Be Honest, i feel that sony is doing a good job with expansions but the game needs a graphical update super bad..not a new game just upgrade the ones you have. This “Outage” is going to kill them more than they know, More time leads to more time everyone is “investing” in other games, Like myself. Vindictus has way better graphics, runs way smoother, less lag, gameplay is very nice,Quests and interface are easy, Steadly updating and adding free content, and the game itself….its free with no forced “Purchase Content” so you can play the game all the way.
