Keyring? Quest Items Tab? SmokeJumper Hints…

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

A player asked why the Character Sheet (Persona Window) received yet another revamp with yesterday’s update. SmokeJumper had this tidbit:

[While players] didn’t ask for a new character sheet, but they *are* asking for something that will be solved after this change is in place. Here’s what got fixed with this change:

  • Your multiple homes are now listed in the “Housing” pane. (Previous to today, you could only own one house, so a list wasn’t necessary. It is now.)
  • It puts us in a much better situation to add more categories in the near future to take care of “inventory clutter” issues by creating new categories and taking those items out of your backpacks. This is a very common player request and we’ll be attacking a bunch of that soon.

Keyring, and especially a quest item tab would definately help ALOT in eq2.
I believe like me most people have a bag or 2 for each character dedicated to quest items, and we could all do with getting that space back.

Also alot of quests dont always remove the item from your inventory when completed (or a stage completed) so you end up holding onto items that you dont need.

    Please please 🙂

A quest item tab would be soooo good, I’ve asked in the past just for quest item only bags as the loss of bag space would still be well worth it.

And as Panther mentions our bags are even filled with unneeded quest items too, a seperate problem, perhaps they could write a script up that does a search of quest completed vs quest items in characters inventory and run it during each weeks downtime?

That would be handy housekeeping to do.

Sure could use an illusion item category, too. Would love to be able to bind those to myself without having them take up bag space!

A tab for gear you want to show as your appearance!!!! THAT is what I want to see. I have a TON of appearance gear, both “appearance only” stuff, and things that I’ve gotten over the years t hat just look cool and want to keep (like some previous tier’s raid or quest gear, for example).

Having the ability to put ANY gear I want as appearance in there would be, honestly, life (well, EQ2 Life) changing. It would nearly empty my bank and house of no-trade items that I cannot have alts hold or store in the broker boxes.

I don’t mind appearance items in the Station Marketplace. I like this game and if I have the money and see something I want to buy, sure, why not? The problem is, I LITERALLY have no more room to hold this stuff any more. I CANNOT buy any more appearance gear or, if I do, heaven help if I unpack it because I’ll be stuck with all the gear in my overflow window.

It’s a situation of: I have money I WANT to give to Sony . . . but they have a built-in mechanic that won’t LET me give them my money . . . /shrug. They have to do something to increase revenue. That would go a long way allowing people to get an amount of appearance gear that’s limited only by the amount of funds they are willing to spend and not on a failed game mechanic . . .

Lovin’ Panther and Greenmists’ ideas, I have SOOO much junk in my inventory / bank / vaults that are in these 2 categories. I’ve been considering upgrading to the 44 MC bags, but I’m hoping these ideas will remove the need for that.

I’d also like to see quest items just up and disappear when the quest is done (moving them to a tab is a step in the right direction, but having them just “gone” is better).

I’d also like to see a tab that shows you what zones you have access to (with access quests) and what ones you don’t. I can never remember which of my toons has access to ToFSX2, Fortress Spire, Vigilant X2 (SF) ect…

Here’s an idea for you Smokehumper – instead of offering all this worthless tripe, how about you fix the things you already implemented like CoV? I could care less about how much you bloat the UI with junk tabs I never look at – I’d much rather see you get the Elbonians working on the code to fix what’s already live and doesn’t work.

AMEN to what Disgusted said. In fact, all they did was introduce another very annoying bug. The character window keeps resetting to the default location whenever I log out and back in, no matter how many times I move it or save my UI settings. So now every time I play, I have to rearrange a window that never gave me a problem previously. Thanks, SOE!

Instead of telling us “this is going to be the biggest and best expansion yet,” I’d just like to see the most stable and bug-free expansion yet. Fix the damn bugs in the public quests that you’ve known about for at least the last 4 months instead of worrying about stupid crap like 10 houses and a new character UI. /rant off

A method of setting your preferred illusion would be cool 😉
