Well characters look too cartoony for me, I prefer realism (don't really like the SOGA ones in EQ2 either). If I wanted WoW, I'd just play WoW! (which I sometimes do, they do WoW better than anyone).

Hopefully the concept art is only cartoon/plasticine looking because that's how concept art is, rather than.. you know.. more WoW

Having said all that, I genuinely think the management of SOE don't really give a damn if it's like WoW, because they want a slice of that pie. Shame to lose Everquest to the ME-2 approach though, who'd have thought it!

Way too cartoony. If it is going to look like that then it's not something I am interested in. Just seems like a step back instead of forward.

I think SOE is tired of losing market share because of all the people with mid-range computers that don't play EQ2 that smoothly. It's unfortunate. I happen to enjoy the EQ2 graphics and hoped that the next EQ installment would be more along the lines of Aion/Rift when it comes to visuals.

The in-game screenshots of Freeport and Gfay look to cartoony for my taste. I won't be playing EQnext if it actually looks like that.

I am not sure where the 'cartoony' comments come in. From an art perspective, the game looks quite beautiful and very well thought out. The screenshot has indepth dimension and realism (as real as you can get in a fantasy game ) and does not compare to WoW. As for the animation of the orc, that is still a working concept people. Keep your britches on. So far it looks great.

hmmm this is to far off what EQ should be. this is trending towards WoW and that's not a good thing, if you want more players ... advertise like WoW does, don't try and mimic lol. the chars are getting a bit to Anime for my tastes here and I am not sure I would make the change from EQ2 to this unless EQ2 died or unless this is not gonna happen =P its still early tho

I am pretty impressed with the concept art so far, the luminosity is great! I don't like downright dark and depressing games. This doesn't even come close to WoW, that's the cartoon, not this art. The amount of detail shown is very close to reality as you'd want to get in a fantasy game, and I don't see Anime at all. So far I love it!

Looks awesome, forget what the EQ2 fanboys say this is so much more similar to the original Everquest and the spirit that made it larger than life. This is a knockout, EQ2 is just ugly - the further away from that mess the better.

But where here skeleton from slides from the first conference?!!
